I used to fill in as a guitarist for local bands back in the early to mid 90's. Punk and early alt styles mostly. I could never secure a permanent position in a band because I can't read music and I don't know much about music theory, I just play by ear. So off and on, a few times a summer.
Haven't done anything since 1997, however.
I didn't even know that Punk musicians needed to know theory. :oI used to fill in as a guitarist for local bands back in the early to mid 90's. Punk and early alt styles mostly. I haven't performed in about 3 years. I haven't been in a band in ages, I don't know anyone who plays the drums or the bass, or anyone that likes the same music as me... So finding people that play the drums and bass and like the same music as me is... yeah, pretty hard.
Last time I performed was when I was at uni. I was in a short-lived guitar/vocal duo which did a few weekend gigs at a local bar. Before that, I'd perform every week at an open mic night held at a local indie club (just me on guitar & vocals. went down a treat). That was three years ago.
What is it with drummers anyway? They're either bad or so full of themselves they try to force weaker members out or just quit unexpectedly. At least in my experience that's what I've personally observed.Never really. Every band I've been in usually fell apart after a week (always related with issues cncerning our drummer). In any case I still feel like I have alot moreto learnbefore I play in front of people.
