Hi! My name is Mick and I'm looking for musicians to create what I call an e-jam (or who knows, maybe an e-band) via YouTube. I'm not especially looking for virtuosos (since I'm definitely NOT one myself), just musicians who can hold a rythm. I'm looking for, at least, one guitar and one voice (I'm a bassman myself) Drummers and keyboardists are welcomed!

My original idea is to make a cover of a given song. This is my 1st goal and if everything works out well, I'm open to bigger ideas. Concerning the song, again, I'm open to different styles but I'd prefer a popular band to an obscure one. And I'm also not fond of big, heavy metal. I'll name some of my favourite bands to give you an idea:

Kiss, Placeb, The Ramones, The Clash, The Darkness, The Futureheads, Michael Jackson, Barry White, etc.

Anyway, if the project interests you, we will decide together of our first song.

As for the recording, I suggest the following:

-The first instrument to be heard in the song will be the first recorded (so that we all know where to start when recording our own track). The first musician records him/herself on his/her webcam and plays his/her track while listening to the original song in his/her hearphones. He/she then posts the video on YouTube and sends the link to the next musician.

-The second musician then follows the same procedure.

-Then every other musicians and the singer.

I know someone who can mix the audio of the 3/4/5 audio tracks and can probably make a video out of the experience. Then we put the whole thing on YouTube.

So, who's in?

It's an interesting idea, but I think you'd be much better off trying to find musicians in your area to work with in person. Playing in a group is very different from playing by yourself, and it's a skill that needs to be practiced.

That's a really cool idea. What, will you have a video with 4 seperate videos for each player all put together in sync? That sounds hard...

Well the whole idea is to make a e-jam, not REPLACE a real-life jam by a virtual one. I want to see if it works. It's just an experience.

i can play violinablance82

Could you compose a violin track over a popular song?

I would be in but... we could never play a live gig :(ferret837

It doesn't really matter if we never get to meet. Anyway, as I wrote, my main goal is to make this e-jam work. After, who knows? We could be the first internationally-ignored e-band! :P What do you play?

To be honest, I really have no idea of how big a challenge it represents to mix all the audio tracks and all the videos of us playing. My friend says she thinks she and her boyfriend can pull it. I say there's nothing like trying!

Are you in?

I play guitar, but I only have an acoustic, and I don't have any quality recording devices. Sorry. :(HessenKnight

But a webcam's mic is enough for me! I mean I'm not looking for a studio sound, just the sound of us playing. Even if it sounds like crap, I just want to be able to hear all instruments.

Bingo! I'm buying mine next week. I'm telling you, dude! If we can hear you right, the webcam's mic will be more than enough!
