Holy crap. You look like a completely different person. Congrats. If you remember my thread back in June I said I started out at 310 pounds, and in that thread I was 216 with a goal of 190.
Well, I've reached that milestone: original HUGE pic at 310 pounds

I must know all of your secrets! I'm at 168, teetering on the edge of becoming overweight (my BMI is 24.6) and I would like to get down to 140.

a high metabolism? i want to grew some fat,so i can grow some muscles,
Wow TC, I'm extremely impressed! I was in the process of losing weight but I kinda gave up on the cardio and stuck mainly with weight training. I've gotten bigger (muscle) but haven't lost much fat. You've just inspired me to get back on the tready. I'm 5'6" and 75kg (165 lbs), and while most of it is muscle, i really want to lean up a bit and get rid of the excess flab. So you've convinced me to work until I hit about 65-67kg (143 lbs) :D. THANKS.
i need get my fatso in motion man...caugh 260ish caugh
it's sad to, i work at hospital with a full gym that has no cost to me to go to.

How did you do it? I'm desperate at this point :(.

Run or walk at least three times a week for best results.
Don't follow a specific diet plan or cut out anything except junk food. Get your fruits and vegetables in. Just have the three main meals a day, snack in between lunch and dinner as long as itisn't too unhealthy.
Just keep it simple. Plan in chunks. If you want to lose 60 pounds, make your goal 5 pounds, then another 5 pounds, and another. Once you get in the groove of losing weight you're not gonna stop.
that is good advice; I am currently way overwight. I just weighed myself at my nutritionist andI am at 390 pounds. My goal is 280, basically my old high school weight when I was in good shape. Eventually I'd like to get to 250 or so, but that is wayyyyy down the line.
A few questions:
1. How did you motivate yourself? I am well-disciplined about everything (work, relationships, people, etc) except for my health. The will is there, the logic is sound pertaining to what I need to do and how to do it...but I just cant do it.
2. How long did it take you to make such an impressive loss? 120 is roughly about whatI want to lose.
3. How often did you weigh yourself? I've been told by my therapist you should not weigh yourself more than twice a month, otherwise you put a negative spin.
4. Any other tips? I used to be an athlete, someone who could hike for hours, lift large amounts of weights, etc. Now I am obese, smoker, and I get winded simply walking around.
5. Did you have to make any extreme lifestyle changes? i.e. did you give up video games or other non-productive hobbies?
6. What was your general exercise routine?
Thank you for posting this, you have no idea how good it makes me feel to see a former fattie looking so trim and, dare I say, handsome
also, it seems you lost quite a bit in a fairly small amount of time; do you have problems with excess skin or anything?

I would say drop the smoking, that is just going to make working out more difficult. If you just want to lose fat then you can just do cardio type stuff, but if you want to replace the fat with muscle I would suggest heavy weightlifting. Make sure to eat good quality foods as well, it will help a lot.
Congrats TC!!!

muscle is not the issue; i am a strong man in a fat suit lol. I still lift weights at least three days a week, I rep 280 on the bench, squat 450, and bicep curl 65s.
See!?! This is why I want to lose weight so bad! I'd be such a badass looking dude if I got down to like 16% body fat. I was healthy and good in high school and I was at 20% then, which is high, but I was told that is just my body type by many doctors.
Like I said, Ive got all the motivation in the world, I just lack the execution aspect of it. I gotta cut down my beer intake, and like you said stop smoking. My coworkers recently quit, maybe I should jump on the bandwagon.
ARRRRGH not gonna lie, I am jealous of TC lol

Alright drop the beer as well it is just going to give you a gut. You need to up your weightlifting to at least 6 days a week if you want fast results. If you start weightlifting intense enough the fat will be melted off by the muscle. Sounds like you are strong and at least you already got a routine going with weightlifting, so you just got to up the intensity and workout more frequently and it will be no problem. What I mean by upping the intensity is either more weight less reps, or same/a little less weight but with about 10-15 seconds of rest inbetween sets.
lol is it bad that I printed those pictures for motivation?
mrbojangles25
Watch some Jay Cutler and Branch Warren vids on youtube for more motivation.

You need to add conditioning into your routine. You can change your routine from more of a power routine to more of a conditioning routine. Look into circuit training. It it great for burning fat while keeping muscle mass. Also do conditioning outside of lifting weights. Look into interval training. An example is sprinting all out for 30 seconds, then jogging for a minute. Do that for 15 minutes. That is a very simple example. But it is great for burning fat.[QUOTE="mrbojangles25"][QUOTE="VisigothSaxon"]

But it is great for burning fat.a girl at my work is doing that; she is very beautiful, but when she started her legs had quite a bit of celulite. Its only been about 6 weeks since she started training, but the difference in her overall leg tone is intense.
my only concern about sprinting is my knees; I weight almost 400 pounds, and pounding on my knees like that seems a bit harsh at this point. I was a lineman in football, and thankfully have no problems now, and I'd like to keep it that way
Things I am open to:
-Hiking; good boots coupled with knee braces might help my knees. I like t he outdoors
-Beach walking; I heard the sand is soft enough for heavy people not to cause damage, and it is really good resistance training because your constantly pushing against the sand
-General walking; despite my size and health, I can walk for miles on flat ground. I went to France three years ago whenI was at my peak weight of 417 and managed to walk about 15 miles in one day. So I know I can do it.
-Biking; I had a bike, it got stolen, will be getting my friend's bike soon. I really enjoyed riding it, too, I think a bike is going to be my golden ticket, especially given the "bike culture" where I live
Things I am against:
-Jogging. Like I said, bad for knees and frankly I dont think I could do it with my lungs in their current shape. Also, I am self conscious, dont want my man-boobs flopping around :P
Cardio is definately the ticket for me, no doubt. I will always retain some sort of muscle mass, and I respond well to weights. More importantly, I enjoy weight lifting. It is just a matter of finding a form of cardio that is convenient and tolerable.
