Please OT posters, I need your expertise and compassion. I am at home by myself and was sitting on the computer doing some er.. work and all of a sudden I heard a dull thumping from my attic. It should be noted that I've never gone up into this attic since I moved into the house, it's always been an afterthought of mine though. Anyway, I called my friend who will be named 'Joe' in this thread and we readied a ladder to gain access to the attic. Now, it should be noted that me and Joe are experience attic explorers and we've been at this for many years, my attic we simply referred to as 'Mystery Attic'.
Anyway, myself and Joe tried opening the attic door over a span of 2 hours but we couldn't make it budge. Just as Joe was handing me a 35 pound sledge hammer we heard a low rumbling eminating from beyond the attic door, this is when my dog started going insane. He's never behaved this way before and I honestly should've paid more attention to his actions now that I look at it in hindsight. Myself and Joe stopped and paused looking at eachother trying to figure out what the rumbling was but we passed it off as the heavy traffic near my house and continued working.
Meanwhile my dog continued going insane until we called it a night. We both came back the next day with some extra tools to make the process go faster. It was a pain lugging the tools up and down the ladder so over the next couple days of work trying to get the attic door open we just left the tools at the top of the ladder. Taking brief turns on Mystery Attic, myself and Joe were finally starting to make some progress, one side of the attic door was beginning to lift. Just as we were celebrating a strong gust of wind blew through the house and a blood chilling scream came from the other side of the attic door. Myself and Joe were completely frozen in terror but hastily continued working without a word.
The next day we barely had gotten to work when we pried another corner of the attic door open, it seemed like something was forcing it down from the other side and preventing us from getting in. This is when I snuck my one hand through the crack we had made and felt around up there, instantly something eerily cold and evil touched my hand and I instinctively pulled my hand back in disgust. A smell then that can only be described as rotting flesh and death filled my house along with another blood churning scream much closer this time. We couldn't get out of the house fast enough and I slept at Joe's place for the night.
The next day we finally got the attic door open, I put on a helmet mounted light and made my way up into the attic. I told Joes I'd return in 5 minutes. I had gotten a short distance when I saw hieroglyphics on the wall accompanied with a sound that I can only describe as grinding of rock. I had a horrible sense that I was being watched, I yelled to Joe but there was no response. As if it couldn't get any worse my helmet mounted light burnt out but luckily I had some glow sticks.
I quickly retraced my steps and exited the attic, I had a strong sense that something was in there with me and was racing to get me before I escaped. As I stumbled down the ladder, the putrid smell filled the air once again and some unknown force slammed the attic door shut once again. Joe had a face that was full of terror and we both said nothing as we left the house.
It's been 3 months and we're going back to the attic in an hour. I know my friends and family are worried about me but I promise I'll be alright. I'll update this page when I get back.
