How do you guys feel about this?

Do you think it's a stupid decision?

Here's a picture of the direct quote. This was an artice in the local newspaper about the theater.

I personally have a problem with it. It's a big distraction, and I don't see what he's allowing it (the owner).

I wouldn't watch a movie there. For the price of a movie they should not encourage distraction....

If it's not making any noise I have no problem with people texting during the movie. It's their loss.

Movies aren't cheap. Why would you spend that kind of money if you're going to spend the duration of the movie texting?

And it bugs me. I hate seeing the glowng screens in a movie theatre.

People who text during films have no respect for others. It's not just about sound, you think becuase a phone isn't playing music or something then it's okay? Think about it, a cinema is a big dark room, completely blacked out. A phone is a small device with a bright screen. Even with the film playing, eyes are automatically drawn to lights like this, it's distracting and annoying. People should leave the cinema if they are going to be disrespectful and text.

Mobile phone screens are very bright, it catchs your eyes attention even if you don't want it too, it's a different level of light to the actual cinema screen. Usually it catches you just out of the corner of your eye and is very annoying. In a dark room your eyes are drawn to light even if you don't want them to be.Also, if the person texting is sitting right next to you the sound of buttons being pressed is also very annoying. As I said, it's just about respect. A cinema is a public space, but everyone is there for the same reason and individual people shouldn't ruin it for others.

But you dont need to have "the ultimate theater experience" everytime you go there. You just glance at the phone then look back at your movie. Texting dosent make any noise exept for the people who text like machineguns. But in that situation where they are ruining both the video and audio experience, i think its better to tell them to stop then. But just people texting every now and then isnt too bad. They are there to enjoy the movie as well.

Nope. The phone screen is very bright. No reason to text during a movie. IF that is what you want to do....stay outside and text...but don't be a distraction to everyone else.

Of course they allow it. What are they going to do, stop the movie and throw people out? I agree it's annoying but some things just aren't feasibly controllable.

The point of a movie theater is to watch movies, not text. And it would piss me off if I sat next to a person whom texted and I had to hear the coonstant clicks and clacks of said person's finger as the quickly text.

It was a terrible decision.

They can do whatever they want with their property. They could allow people to talk to each other if they wanted to. Don't like it, don't go there.

If it was an emergency, and someone had to send a quick text on their phone then they should at least have the decency to try hide it in their bag/pocket while texting and then quickly put it away. When people do that it doesn't bother me. It's when people have it right out in front of them, just as they would outside, and text continually throughout a film... that's when it really starts to get to me. People who think that is okay in a cinema full of other patrons shouldn't be allowed in public venues.

I would probably pay attention to the text conversation than the movie, so in the middle of the theater i would shout "Kelly is breaking up with who???" nah i actually wouldnt, but that would be funny.

I find it very distracting when people you are with are looking at their phone or texting when they're supposed to be watching the movie. If you actually paid money for it you'd think you'd be interested in watching it.

I think its a bad decision. Your at the movies to relax, the light going off when your at the movies will distract someone else, then they miss some of the movie, I don't think its a good idea.
