he told me that scientists have made a material that can bend light, so they put it on a jet or something, and it was invisible, is this true?

That's unpossible. At first I believed it but then I realized that is unpossible.

there are materials like that, but Im not sure about on a plane, I've seen a bottle that when you insert a certain material the material is invisible throught the bottle. I forgot the names of the materials though. I haven't had physics in a while.

Light is absorbed, so how can it bend? Light rays can be reflected... I'm not quite sure what you mean by bend, as it conceptually makes no sense.

Yes, you can bend light by REFRACTION.

And this light bending technlogy is incorporated in modern aicrafts in the use of FIBER OPTICS.

lol you would need fiber optics going in every direction to make you kinda invisable!

lol amirite? ?_?

Yeah! And umm..uh

The Great Spirit tells me that um light can be bent if you use this material stuff that bends light. its pretty neat.

Mmm... ya, I can see that being the case. Though it's sorta cheating. You're right though (theoretically).

Holy hell, that is insane. Too bad it seems like it will only work with something completely round. Then again, maybe it's a good thing that people won't be able to render themselves invisible any time soon...

Light doesn't bend around black holes, it goes in but can't escape, thus why we're unable to see them.

Light does bend around a black hole. It will be bent by any large mass. They proved it could be bent by the gravity of our sun during a solar eclipse. It's only when the light enters the event horizon that it's stuck there.

As for the physics teacher.....not exactly. We've created a material that will bend EM radiation around a small object....in a lab. That's it. Nowhere near any practical use yet.

Actually, some light does bend around it, if it's at the right distance.

No, it's still technically following a straight line through space. It's just that SPACE ITSELF bends around a black hole.

Er, theory of relativity. Light bends when it passes through/near gravity wells.

Any material can bend light, but many just absorb most of it.

Yes, it's true. My science teacher told me the same (and not on the 1st-today) Big magnets can do it, but the big magnetic fields would kill you, and the amount of power required to run it would be impractical.

Not sure about how true it is, but I have read something about them trying to make a cloaking device by bending light of something like that, but I dont think its been acheived.
