...is when all the professionals around me are almost young enough that I could be their father. It's hard to take them seriously.

But damn my doctor's fvcking hot.

Fvck you, father time, Fvck. You.

All you other old foggies here, what's difficult for you to accept as you age?

I'm to the point now to where if I wake up with a new pain, I figure that's just life from here on out.

I'm getting to the point where most of my students could be my legitimate, non-teen parent children.

That a lot of people I have known and loved are dead. And I miss them terribly.

Other than that, I am enjoying getting old and slowing down, "gracefully surrendering the things of youth."

Most of it is regarding greater physical limitations. Though I am only 26 skipping a night of sleep has become an impossibility. Just 6 years ago I would think nothing of it but I find that procrastinating school work is no longer feasible (context: I'm in my 8th year as a full-time student).

Oh, baloney. I'm older than you and yet, I can still scrimmage in soccer with the younger folks. Gotta watch my right knee though.

Edit:

 Oh. I still get a boner without needing boner pills. But, whenever the wife mentions, "How about a boy?" I say, "Hell no! I'm done making kids."

I'm 25 so I'm not old or anything. But I'm really stressed out about wasting the rest of my life in this hellhole. I can't get rid of the feeling that I should have left a loooong time ago. In fact I should never have spent a day in Gaza but I was not in control of my life which adds to the frustration. I keep thinking about the things I've missed out on and I keep asking myself what I would have turned to be if I lived somewhere decent. Its really patronizing and frustrating, you have no idea how it feels.

Can you get out of Gaza? I honestly don't much about the region. I don't pay a lot of attention to the middle east.

Ha I'm that young professional. I started working at an engineering firm earlier this spring as a co op when I was 19. Lots of high schoolers look older than me, so people were probably wondering if I was someone's kid or something the first week or so of work :P

Gotcha. If you were desperate enough could you enter illegally and then just declare yourself e.g. smuggler's run

Im not aging in looks except for a few grey hairs. People are joking about me being an old man because I take tablets for my excess stomach acid and have tinnitus already.

Leejjohno

I still have an iron stomach (a steady diet of peppers has made it so), but the tinnitus in my left ear has become annoying to the point I sometimes think going deaf in that ear would be preferable. If it wasn't so high-pitched I could deal with it, but damn it has to be that particular high note.

It comes and goes with me and it's very slight even then, but it's at it's worst when I try to sleep or get a bath... I think the worst thing is I have barely done anything to sustain hearing damage but the doctor reckons some people are just sensitive to loud noise.

I take it you got yours by hanging around loud speakers?

Leejjohno

I knew most of the local bands back in the day and would help them set up and sound test and shit, and I was usually just off stage while they played so if any technical issues came up I could jump on it. Never used ear protection.

Thing is, the tinnitus didn't hit me until years later. Even then, it was tolerable. It wasn't until this past spring that it really kicked in to the point of being constantly annoying, and I have no idea why then. I haven't cranked my music up loud in years, and when I wear earbuds it's low enough that I can still hear everything going on around me.

Every once again it will abate for an hour or so, but then it comes back just as loud as ever. I'm trying to get to a specialist to see what's up, but that's taking longer than I thought it would.

I'm in the opposite situation. I'm 22 but work with a lot of guys old enough to be my dad (a few old enough to be my grandfather). It is a little weird after college to be in that position, especially since I wonder the exact thing you touched upon: do they take me seriously?

I feel incredibly old sometimes seeing as all the crap that's happend the past 10 years or so and it just seems to take a toll on the body. But only being 26 I'm afraid of what it'll be like when I am in my 30's,40's etc. I already feel like my bodies falling apart and the younger people around me are so I differen't. I still get id going to buy stuff though so I guess I still look reasonably young...Or that could be all the piercings and tattoos. Hah. I dunno I dread most of the parts of getting older that involve physical well being as I am already suffering in that department.

I recently turned 47. Life doesn't seem much different from when I was in my 20s other than I can put on weight much easier and have to exercise more to keep it off. My kids keep me active. I am grateful though that I don't have any grey hair yet. Both of my older brothers went grey when they hit 30.

It's a good game for mid-life crisis.
