My rap...honest thoughts?

Alright guys, im a 15 year old scottish white kid who decided to make a rap, so i KNOW its not the best thing ever, or anywhere close:P. But i would like some opinions on my rap please ! Im expecting a load of people just making fun of me, so its all good :)

No, its not my first track, i began just messing about at around 13 with a webcam haha, but just recently got a decent mic. So, ive made a few songs before, but nothing to serious. This is the only track i have thats just me with an audible microphone.

And...i would like to make my own beats, but the honest truth is im not very good at it, oh well.

Any more opinions? Thanks...

All you need these days to start producing your own beats is just good music software and if you want to expand your capabilities, audio production equipment (ex. keyboard, soundboard etc.).

You have a voice capable of rapping. You don't sound weird is what I'm saying =P

Unfortunately, it's not my thing. Maybe it's because I really like 'Where Is The Love'.
Or maybe it's because I'm not good at deciphering heavy accents lol.

If I get a chance to listen to a different track, hopefully I'll enjoy it.

If you want to get started in making you own beats, may I sugest ACID Music Studio to get you going. Easy to use, beginner production software at a reasonable price.

i hardly understood what you were saying because the music either drowned out your voice or your timing was off in some parts, as far as the vibe....it was nice and positve. kudos to you for not trying to be a wannabe, atleast some ppl still know what hip hop is all about.

shyskillz, i know what you mean about the timing, listening over it again, i wish i had re-recorded it (esp the 2nd verse) as i kinda went off a few times, but major thanks for the words on the vibe of it, means alot man.

Some of your bars were forced and a few were just a little unclear. You should work on presenting your voice and bars better. It also sounds like you wrote the lyrics then picked the beat. I'm not saying you did, but what it sounds like.

I thought that was pretty good, although it was weird hearing rap with a scottish accent lol. Does Edinburgh have any sort of rap scene?

It sounded like some of what you were rapping was forced together and sometimes had an uneven flow, like an earlier poster said it sounded like you wrote your lyrics first and then picked up a track which maybe didnt work for it perfectly. Also not to diss your accent or where your from but from the perspective of where I live in the American Midwest and you having a thicker accent it personally didnt match well with the song. Having a thick accent from anywhere can either help or hinder your lyrics and adds or detracts something from the beat. Personally since I hardly ever hear Scottish rappers you could use your accent to an advantage by picking a beat that really compliments it and create somethiung very unique. I just personally felt like the beat and accent clashed (but that doesnt seem to be the conscencience so take it for what you will). Also it could just be technical problems like with the mic or something but a couple times it felt like your voice just went in and out.

That being said you have alot of heart and it shows, you know what your doing and your a good lyracist. I enjoyed the track and you definatly have talent, I just think you should expieremnt more but your rapping is solid foundation right now and it can probably get better too so just keep doing your thing man and good luck.

I'm not an easily impressed person. The voice wasn't really doing it for me. You can flow okay, but the tone just wasn't there.

4/10 and that's a solid score coming from me. I hardly rate anything over a 6. Unless it's a video game I own.

I generally hate rap, but your accent rocks.

For your first track it's pretty good, chamnge the beat though it remindes me too much of "where is the love"

I generally, hate rap, I hate European rap even more, and I also hate white kids trying to rap.

But, honestly, that's really good man. You have some real talent here, and if you're only 15, that's insane. Don't give this up, you're definately on to something here. Well done. 10/10.

Just because I support Celtic doesn't mean I agree with all that stuff. To be honest, I don't really care about the Independence of Northern Ireland or Catholicism vs Protestantism. And terrorism is NEVER right, no matter what they're fighting for.

Definately. The Roots have done some amazing laid back chill-out albums, but i found this to be TOO laid back, to the point where it sounded a little dry and emotionless.

Haha sorry. Em in my opinion, you should write your own songs to your own beats, then try to perform in public. I'm sure there's pubs or some sort of venue that will let you have the mic. Good luck.

Yeah, im gonna try to start making my own beats, or find someone who can haha.

They are my own lyrics though :)
