I feel like throwing a handful of band-aids down my throat. It's agitatingly painful.

Any of you wise fellows out there know a good way to num it or make it feel a little better? (As you can see, I'm no medic.)

Here's the thing... I don't have any on me as of now. :[

I checked the medicine cabinet. No medicine for my throat. Any other methods you wise-men have up your sleeves?

Tell it to either STFU or GTFO. Or, just don't respond to it. If it's annoying you, the best thing to do is ignore it (great advice from the GS mods).
But seriously, go out and get some Chloraseptic and throat lozenges. Works wonders.
Depends what the cause is. If you're getting a cold, drink ice water

Salt Water Gargle. Makes it better quickly. I am currently dealing with a sore throat as of now too. Also, ice water with a little lemon in it. Lemon is a miracle food. Or lemon tea. Also, hot broths. Lots of liquids.

I'm going through the same thing right now. I've been sucking on cough drops and that has been helping. Oh, and another thing that sootehs the throat is honey straight out of the bottle.

Warm tea can sometimes help, if not maybe a warm shower will soothe it a little. Sorry to hear it hurts and hope it feels better soon!

Stay away from dairy though, makes it so much worse :P

If it's strep it won't go away without an antibiotic. I had for about two weeks. My mom wouldn't take me to the doctor because I didn't have insurance. Finaly I quit eating so she decided to take me. It got so bad I couldn't eat and drinking hot tea was like drinking razor blades.

I'm a tad too young to have my driver's license, so going out isn't an option.

I'm making some broth, see if that'll work a little.

OH i forgot that too! Honey is also one of those miracle foods. Honey is amazazing for soothing a sore throat and quieting a cough immediately. The lemon will help cure it though. So I suggest both.

Hurt as in you're sick?

Get some hard alcohol and gargle it, try to get it as far down your throat as possible then spit it out. Maybe a waste of alcohol to you, but it works.

Is this a common occurrence? If the pain continues, you might consider cutting coffee and alcohol consumption to see if that helps. Spicy foods can be bad too. If this is something that happens a lot, you might have gastroesophageal rephlux disorder(GERD), or worse, erosive esophagitis*. Right now I take an over the counter generic version of Prilosec to try and keep the pain down and maybe heal years worth of damage. I need to see a throat doctor again even though I can't really afford it. *- This is what I have. It sucks really bad.

In Russia, what would help is a small sip of vodka do disinfect. If that doesn't work some hot tea would work. Also lots of bed rest will help

I just got it recently. Had it since last weekend. And, dang! I searched up that GERD and erosive esophagitas.

Gee,that sounds painful. Hopefully this little sore throat will clear up in a matter of days...

Stick to hot drinks and soup. Try to keep your neck warm or less exposed. Cover it with a scarf if you have to. If it lasts too long, see a quack. You want to make sure you don't have strep throat.
