I saw Alpha Dog, skeptically, I mean Justin Timberlake, seriously lol. But it was actually pretty good, I'd recommend it. The last suprisingly good movie I saw before that was Running Scared with Paul Walker.

Running Scared really suprised me.  Before I thought Paul Walker was just a poor man's Keanu Reeves, but he turned out to be pretty good.

I found Blood Diamond to be really good all-round. I had expected it to follow the trend of recent somewhat depressing politically-motivated films (many of which I do like) but found that it was a thoroughly enjoyable adventure romp as well as having real depth and a believable character arc for the main character who doesn't have a sudden 180 turn, acting against his nature.

Running Scared in my opinion pulled Paul Walker out of the teenybopper movies and proved that he is somewhat of a decent actor.

As for me, I just saw The Departed for the first time recently, loved it.  There's a reason why it won Best Picture.

I also was pretty surprised by Alpha Dog. It was kinda weird though. For about 4/5ths of the movie it seemed like a fun, decent party kind of movie until it got serious and depressing towards the end. Kinda left me in a bad mood, but I thought it was still decent overall. Its' a fun movie for the most part except for that one interview scene if you know what I'm saying...

I'm going to have to disagree... Ghost Rider was just bad... I mean, Nick Cage is NO Johnny Blaze... not by a longshot!

Still way better than super man not because of the cast just because superman had no "Epic battles" which was a HUGE letdown. The only thing about Ghost rider that held it down were the short fighting scenes and I agree they could have cast a better Rider.

I dont know if anyone has seen Idiocracy yet (Mike Judge's follow-up to Office Space) but that wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Could do a lot worse for a rental.

Still having to disagree. Ghost Rider's "epic battles" were pretty average. Sure, the Superman villian was more of a psychological than a physically competitive villian, but it still had much more impressive effects. I have to hand it Ghost Rider for making as much money as it has so far with half the budget as Superman.

I was a little disappointed in it due to all the hype, but it was still pretty funny none the less. Not even close to the same level as Office Space though; that movies is EPIC

I am a movie fanatic...some recent movies I've seen in the past few weeks that I thoroughly enjoyed.

Everything Is Illuminated, The Guardian, House of D, Bridge to Terabithia, Layer Cake, can't seem to think of any others as of late.

Volver (To Return in English) by Pedro Almodovar was excellent. It helps that I am a fluent Spanish speaker, so there was no need for subtitles or a translated version that would have ruined the movie. I saw The Prestige as well. Quite good, better than I expected. The twists in the plot are incredibly satisfying.
