Today is the National March for Life in Washington D.C. Many people, some of whom participated in last night's Prayer Vigil for Life, will be marching in the streets of Washington D.C. to bear witness to the sacredness and dignity of all human life.

For anyone interested in watching the March, EWTN is providing live coverage. You can watch EWTN on your television through your cable or satellite provider, or, if you want you can watch it over the internet via this link. (or go to EWTN's mainsite, hover the mouse over the "Television" tab, select "Live TV - English" and then "United States English"

My guess is that March has probably closed down some streets and maybe congested others, so it might be hard for people to get to the abortion facilities today.

I seriously think we'll look back on abortion being used as retroactive birth control and be appalled that we ever let it happen.

Who knows maybe it's a late term fetus and birth will occur before tomorrow. Or maybe after todays delay someone will change their mind and decide against abortion.

To a certain extent we already do look back on partial-birth abortion and on the days before we had the Born-Alive Infant Protection Act that President Bush signed into law in 2002 after it was passed through the House and Senate (sponsored by Rep. Chabot in the House and Sen. Santorum in the Senate) with the sentiments you describe.

Honestly, I'm getting sick of these protests. They do them so frequently that they're becoming meaningless, and it's always the same people doing them, yet claim success when the same number of people show up each and every time.

BuryMe

It's an annual thing, and there are new people. In recent years there have been a lot more young people (teens, tweens and thirties) showing up.

I don't mean to be the bearer of bad news but our population is increasing. So it would make sense that there would be more people protesting.

I know you're just being an ass, but I highly doubt the population increases enough to make a difference in year to year turnout in a protest.

Sure it does... Once the one child who has been threatened with eternal hellfire and damnation his or her entire life is sufficiently brainwashed by their overtly religious parents and jesus camp, they are released upon the world so that the next generation of gullible children can be threatened with eternal hellfire and damnation their entire life.

You can't threaten children into believing what you believe if there are no children born silly. So every year more indoctrinated zealots are released and new ones are trained.

But still the attendance at the March has increased. Population increases don't explain everything though, afterall didn't Obama's recent inauguration have less turnout than four years ago?

They are wrong. I march everyday for birth control. Especially after seeing some of the kids in my neighborhood.

I don't know a single pro-choice woman who thinks that abortion is a good form of birth control. Abortions are rather expensive for a lot of people.

That's right, we don't want no stankin' Europeans on our datin' site.

You aren't missing much though. All I get when I enter the site is a bunch of pictures of country folks obscured by a thing that says register for free and asks for name, birth date, e-mail address, etc. Followed by a description of the site.

If only we could say "President Rick Santorum is giving a speech now at the March for Life".

Why stop there? President Pope Benedict has a nice ring to it.

Except that Benedict XVI is not an American citizen, he is a German citizen and a Vatican citizen so he does not meet the constitutional requirements to be eligible to run for President. Plus ecclesial law does not allow for priests or bishops (i'm not sure about deacons) to hold or run for political office (though the Pope can change that if he wants to, but I don't think he has any desire to do so or to hold any political office).

That being said, I think that if Benedict XVI did run for president of the U.S. in 2012 he would've beaten Obama. Afterall I think Obama's approval rating is in the 50s while Benedict XVI's approval rating is 72 percent (though that poll was only among American Catholics, not Americans as a whole, but still a large margin of victory among Catholic voters would be important in a presidential election). I'de reckon that most Romney voters (about 95% or more) would probably have voted for Benedict XVI over Obama. Benedict XVI would've most likely done quite better than Romney amongst minorities, particularly Hispanics (who knows the Pope might've actually won amongst Hispanics). Maybe he would've even gotten some disaffected liberals like yourself to vote for him due to Obama's drone strikes.
