I am reading Bleak House by Charles Dickens right now. It's very good, and it's length is more than sufficient.

Bleak House looks interesting, but 900 pages is way to long. Enders Game looks okay but I'm not really a fan of Sci-Fi books. I prefer mystery or thriller or adventure books.DJG24992
How about reading the begining of the series by Ian Rankin? His books fall into all those categories.

It's hard to go wrong with Gettysburg, Neuromancer, Dune, or Shogun.

Do you have any specific length of genre in mind?

tell me about it. i ahted the last book but loved the first 2. Harry Potter does have a pretty interesting idea. but it just doesn't deliver as a fantasy franchise overall. i think Philip pullman is far more imaginative.

Agreed. I hate it when authors tack on a crappy feel-good ending that runs contrary to the entire plot just for the sake of a happy ending. Harry should have died.

Hell yes. If it was a bit more destructive it would have been an improvement. I didnt feel sad for the people who were killed at all. I may be an emotionless robot though.

I second this statement. If there ever was a book that you couldn't put down no matter how hard you tried, this is it.
