Alright so my Dad wants to find some bands like Unearth but without the heavy vocals. He absolutely loves the way instruments are played in their songs but he can't stand the screams. Does anyone know bands that are heavy instrumentally but with all clean vocals?

I'm not fan but if i remember correctly Black Label Society have clean vocals most of the time. You could also try the One Second album by Paradise Lost, a classic in my opinion. you could also go oldschool with Iron Maiden, Dio, Black Sabbath or ManoWar.

There's also Dream Theater (I hate that band)

Thanks, he already plays songs from a few of those bands but I'll have him check out the rest.

Opeths new album comes out in like 4 days, and is supposed to contain no death growls, so that might be worth checking out.

I agree with the above, Black Label Society, Black Sabbath (Ozzy and Dio) as well as Ozzy and Dio solo are fantastic. But keep in mind non of them play as fast as a death metal band as they are more traditional older classic Metal, but they always sing and not scream. Might also want to give early Metallica, and maybe some Megadeth, no screaming in their music either.

As for newer bands, you might want to try newer Avenged sevenfold as the singer stopped screaming on the City of Evil album. Disturbed also doesn't scream in their songs as well.

Dio, so good! And I agree he might like Opeth too, even though there are some metal vocals, their whole discogrophy is accessible on the whole.

Also he might like Pelican. I recommend their instumental self-titled EP.
