First of all i hope the music suggestion thread I made recently helped some people find new music, but now I need to find something new to listen to. What I am looking for is some bands like Belle and sebastian, the beautiful south, porcupine tree, amplifier, Sloan, Blur, the decemberists, and Cat Stevens. Something melodic with good lyrics like Belle and sebastian, heck anything remotley similar to the bands I mentioned would be very much appreciated:)

I could recommend you some great progressive death/black metal, although you don't like harsh lyrics. Most of them have cleans as well, but if you don't like Opeth then there's not much of a chance of you liking any of these bands.

Big ups for managing to work fortnight into a sentence in the 21st century. Also, "I'll Believe in Anything" is their best song.

Check out Van She! Really mellow sound with some songs having heavy 80s influence.

Try Nightingale or Aeon Spoke. They're both side projects of death metal bands, but they're both more melodic than heavy, and have clean vocals.

Hrm, interesting selection of bands you'd prefer....

Mayhaps you'd like some:
White Rabbits - Percussion Gun
Camera Obscura - If Looks Could Kill
Timber Timbre - Lay Down In The Tall Grass
Lightning Dust - Highway
Darker My Love - Two Ways Out
The Horrors - Mirror's Image (it feels weird recommending this because their frst album sucked, but this song rocks awesomely)
Dredg - Pariah
Maudlin of the Well - Rose Quartz Turning To Glass
Department of Eagles - Romo-Goth
The Pains of Being Pure At Heart - The Tenure Itch
The Constantines - Trans-Canada
Here We Go Magic - Fangela

You've probably heard of them all, but whatever, I figure I'd try. :)

Try Joel Plaskett Emergency. It doesn't fit exactly what you've listed but he's still pretty good!

Check out alice in chains (but I assume you have already a long time ago) but Dirt is their best album and Black Gives way to blue/Alice in Chains/Jar of Flies are about equal ...and on Facelift get Sea of Sorrow, Bleed the Freak, and Man in a Box. You may also want to pick up the ep Sap.

The Mint Chicks are a great NZ band you may or may not have heard of. I recommend them 100%. Also you could look into a few more NZ bands like Blindspott, Cobra Khan, Cut Off Your Hands, Minuit, Opshop and Concord Dawn. Also, Tiki Taane is worth a listen.

I quite enjoyed it, although TRASH and Hey Stoopid! will always be my favorite Alice Cooper albums.

Lush are pretty good. Their song Ciao was covered by The Beautiful south though and the cover sounded much better.

If you ever find yourself lucky enough to catch their (insanely limited, with hand-drawn album covers) releases on their website, snatch them up. :) If you haven't heard "The Dance of the Moon and the Sun", I urge you to do so, it's so good. It and "The Snowbringer Cult" are my favourites from them.
