So I have 289 virus infections and I need a free virus remover, however I dont know any and google seems to be vague on my searches. I have AVG but it does little to nothing. Can someone provide a link to removing any types of viruses?

Yeah, the problem is I dont know how to reformat or system restore :o
What do they do?
How do I do it?
For a system restore:
Start > Control panel > Performance and maintenance > Click "System Restore" in the top left panel.
Good anti-virus software: Avira or ESET NOD32
Anti-spyware: Spybot Search and Destroy
Next time, I suggest you stay away from dodgy porn sites. j/k
Any free AV trial(Kapersky or Trend Micro are ones I'd reccomend), Malware Bytes Anti Malware, Spybot Search and Destroy, Hijack This, and Spyware Terminator. Get all of them and run scans with them all.
If this doesn't work, then smash your HDD with a hammer and get a new one.
Waste of money against a good virus as it won't let you install an AV or it will modify the files so it can't run or it ignores the virusTry to find highest-graded anti-virus products in a store like Staples, Wal-Mart and other stores that has computer-related products.

You will want to check whichever ones you're interested in, to ensure that they clean the Windows Registry along with infected files. Not all of the anti-virus apps clean the Registry. McAfee does on some of the worst ones, as well as Prevx.
Nobody here uses Malwarebytes Anti-Malware? Seriously? It's probably the best free anti-virus solution out there. Only runs when you want it it scan too.KHAndAnimeYea, it's fantastic at getting rid of viruses, not so much protection against them though. But if the TC has that many viruses, just reformat.
[QUOTE="wstfld"]I finally broke down and paid for Macafee. Worth every penny of that $30. Just buy Macafee or Norton. Ringx55O god, not Norton. Please don't listen to this man. Actually the new versions are rated pretty well, seems it's really changed since the old days. Though there are better free options, MS security essentials was recently reviewed as the best and ESET at the top.

Yup I got the "Antivirus Soft" malware latch onto my laptop last week. Downloaded Malwarebytes and it found (and removed) it within 10 minutes.
It's funny that the free anti-malware/spyware/adware/virus software seem to be far better than what you buy in the shops.
how does one have that many viruses anyways AVG has always done the job for me but i have maybe had 2 viruses out of the 5 computers that i own

lol i got that too. I used malwarebytes, avast, and avira couldn't find it. Spyware doctor found it in 2 minutes, gone. Malwarebytes is normally sharp and i was suprised it couldn't find it but w/e
If it was less viruses I'd suggest Malwarebytes...but....289?! SERIOUSLY?! How do you get that many without noticing?Grim_Heaper94I think a better question is how did he even post this? I'm suprised his computer hasn't blown up yet.

Mcafee is great actually. Never tried Norton though. next time TC just put a virus scanner on there from the start. I seriously don't even understand how your computer is running at this point.
