New Mars Volta today, Aaaaah!!

Apparently it is more like thier first cd. Instead of having so many variances between hi and low key stuff, it just rocks all the way for about 60 minutes.

Havnt gotten it yet, but i will have it in my hot hands in T minus 1 hour!

A bit of backround on the title and theme behind this album;

On a trip in Jerusalem, Rodriguez-Lopez purchased an archaic ouija-type talking board at a curio shop as a gift for Bixler-Zavala. They would return to their tour bus after shows to play with it during their 2006 tour with the Red Hot Chili Peppers, as it quickly became the band's post-show ritual.[3] Dubbed "The Soothsayer", the board revealed stories, gave names and made demands, as the band was contacted by three different people who appeared in the form of one, whom was then referred to as "Goliath".

Lots of off key solos, and really strange time signatures. But they have tons of energy and are really interesting to hear musicaly.

I guess I'll be the first to say it... The Mars Volta can't touch At The Drive-In but I will say that I thoroughly enjoyed Deloused. Also, I just picked this up.

Their talent was so raw in ATDi that I prefer their much more mature and "defined" talent that they've grown into.

I even think Defacto was more developed musically.

Relationship of Command was extremely well developed though...if that makes sense. Like they put WAY more thought into it.

Bedlam is a spectacular album. In my opinion, Amutechture > Bedlam > De-Loused > Frances.

The Mars Volta are definitely a classic band in the making, I'd put them right next to just about any Progressive Rock group in history.

I think ATDI was leveled out by the other folks in the band. Less experimentation, more structure. I enjoyed Relationship, but it was the last and you could feel the break coming in comparison to previous albums.

TMV was refreshing. Kind of a Pink Floyd if they were to placed in today's world. There is nothing quite like it and that's just the way it should be. I thoroughly enjoyed deloused as well. It's raw energy and willingness to break the rules stands out. Francis, I sadly never got to give a good listen too. I may find a way to get my hands on this new album if it's along the lines of deloused.

ah....i've heard some of their new songs on their myspace....and wow....i'm stoked to buy their cd hopefully this weekend....and kezia was an amazing album, so i can't wait to hear the new one
