Wow, doesn't it just feel like 2002 all over again?

Our Proxy War in the Middle East

I'll say this for author Lee Smith, though:

At least he's upfront about the Middle East conflict's being a US proxy war---that's right there in the title.

And at least he's honest about the governments' of Egypt, Jordan and Saudi Arabia being little more than a bunch of corrupt, paid puppets in Washington's back pocket.

"After Egypt signed a peace accord with Israel, Washington rewarded Cairo with an enormous influx of military aid, standing presently at $1.3 billion of the $2 billion given annually to Egypt. That money allows the Egyptians to feather the nests of their senior officers, thereby guaranteeing that the ruling regime stays in power."

"Spreading democracy" indeed.

The cost of our current wars aren't worth it, we'll sink if we go into iran and I highly doubt we will.

Considering the two failwars we're already fighting in the Middle East and the fact that we have staggeringly crippling debt I don't think we're going to go to war unless Iran pushes the button.

Ah, but what if the government decides that a major war might boost the economy ... and that a draft is a good way to reduce unemployment?

Watch your attitude, boy. The Iranians are the ones trying to start a war. They're the ones who won't comply with the UN. They're the ones saying that they've already dug graves for US soldiers.

That post is just proof that flooding popular media with propaganda really works.

Won't comply with the UN eh? Like going into Iraq?

Quite frankly, I don't care what they do unless they actually attack. They can run their mouth as much as they want.

I find it funny when people say we should go to war with Iran and NK, but then say we are too far in debt to have healthcare and that China owns us.

Guess you're never too poor to start pointless wars, right?

I think you are going to be sorely disappointed if you think that nations act only in noble interests. Since the dawn of recorded history this stuff has been going on. There are no good guys or bad guys, there just are people.
