When Danny left I really started to get nervous. He was producing some cool original content and tackling interesting topics. I really hope we start seeing something interesting soon. Remember all the cool videos that made Gamespot special? Can we at least get some opinion pieces?

I only come here every once in awhile now and it's always the same. Lots of movie and TV stuff, articles that feel very "copy/paste", and the basic reviews and trailers/previews we can get anywhere. What's separating this site from other video game sites?

People kept saying this site is dying and I've always tried to stay positive, but I don't know what to think now. I hope to see some changes soon. I'll probably stay for a long time, but the site just doesn't have the same energy and that sucks...

I agree we need more personalty. But i didnt care for The Lobby. I found it kind of boring and still do today. I think we need diversity. Not to praise IGN as they arent us and are bigger, but they have pretty good diversity and personality.

I think video podcast for Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo, PC, Movies, and then one for everything would be cool. But problem is it takes a lot of resources to do. Would be cool if they could do advertising for say Nintendo and do Nintendo video podcast. They could be open about the advertising and do one once a week.

That way can get money from Nintendo, talk about Nintendo, and then post that beast on Youtube for even more money. All they have to do is join the Nintendo's Creator Program i would assume.

What Matt said. Honestly I fell out of gaming years ago, but the community here is great.

yeah I come here pretty much for the forums now and even then...

well let's just say it's only out of habit. If I find somewhere else I might just forget about this place. You might find this crazy but this is literally the only website forum I post on...

But yeah, as far as content goes on the website, it's like a regular magazine now. If you go through a modern magazine now which let's just say is 100 pages and rip out all the ads, you might have 20 pages of content...if you're lucky. And, since this is the internet, those 20 pages have ads incorporated into them.

The front page is very bad now. They don't even bother writing articles anymore because they know nobody will read them.

They've just resorted what is tantamount to infomercials. checked the front-page yesterday and 9 of topics was Watchdogs many of them duplicates or of almost no substance.

Destiny (completely unrelated to a mega Publisher with wods of money) was probably the most "holy shit is this real" egregious example.

The community that existed on the frontpage has been culled as they decided to hide comments, most likely to hide comments complaining how they expanded to anything pop culture related, or how bad the content has become.

They don't seem to care though, in their little bubble, shrinking every day.

I do know and understand the impact YouTube has had on sites like this overall traffic. But I honestly never got into gaming related video content. In regards to reviews and panel discussions.

I come to sites like this for the forums. The money to be made though, has always largely been from site produced content. So site content quality is a legit concern. Fortunately Gamespot traffic ratings are still pretty good according to Alexa. The site ranks 371 in the USA. And 841 globally. Traffic will have to take a really massive downward dive to force a closure. Coming from someone who studied GT traffic ratings before it was shut down. As to put into respective; GT ranked in 8,300+ globally. Before it took its final nose dive in site traffic.

all of GS's reviews always seemed a bit biased to me anyways. I've stopped reading them years go. and I dislike reviews that are trying to be too funny which are very common nowadays.

Yeah, maybe that did it, still frequents here, but its not the same. Lots of tv stuff now also. And for some reason I find the reviews poorer, they need to shape up

@mrbojangles25: Well I work 40 hours a week, have a girlfriend, and I'm in school. Between that and the rest of life it's all rather full. Too full for gaming really.

GS has more than forums?! I check the news page, had no idea GS videos have an audience.

I'm pretty much done with gaming also. I'll sit down in the evening with my laptop and play Civ V while I watch netflix, or I might fire up the occasional game of Fallout, but I've paid little to no attention to anything coming out this generation. I'll still play the Fallout, Elder Scrolls, Grand Theft, and Gran Turismo releases, but I have very little interest in gaming outside of that small list of big-name titles.

I still play games about as much as I used to, but that amounts to something like 3 or 4 games a year :-P

I definitely only come here for the forums though (and maybe the occasional quick check of a review).
