I think they're smart enough to realize any attack is a suicide mission. chrisrooRnot saying they're attacking, just North Korea shooting a missile into the ocean like they've done before, as a provocative act as to say maybe they can hit a somewhat distant target if they wanted

It's really going to mean less and less the more they attempt to kick and scream to draw attention to their pathetic nation. One thing I don't think they realize is how they've become an international source of comedy.
They should launch the missile and watch it get shot down. Then they can go in and take Kim Jong-un out of office.
They can test as many missiles as they want. Until they take hostile action to anybody, we shouldn't be giving them the time of day.
At this point their leadership just wants attention. They want to show the rest of the world that they mean business, without actually doing anything. They use this as internal propoganda. We're wasting our time even listening to them at this point.
I jsut hope that if they shoot something, it had enough power to land somewhere in the pacific, not  on japan.

Maybe even their own country
They're the ultimate troll nation for the Western world. Even Iran pales in comparison, because North Korea is far more yappy. It's like seeing one of those tiny little dogs barking and growling at you from behind a plate glass window. Take a few steps in its direction, and it scampers off.
Now, I know that we know very little about the internal environment within Nk, but is there really no "rebel" groups within NK? Rich3232
I doubt a bunch of starving unarmed people can fight their own government. But what is interesting is the power struggle going on inside the military itself where they are torn on the idea of Un running the show. The only reason he's the leader is because one brother was 'too feminine' and the other was caught trying to visit Disneyland Tokyo. He isn't pulling all the strings, but he needs to show his dominance by living up to all his threats, of which articles that predicted threats months ago, he's followed them all to a T.
Kim Jong-Un Wonders If Nuclear Threats Distracting Him From Real Goal Of Starving Citizenry.

i know it's an oinion article, but it makes you think.Â
with all the recent sanctions, what nations are actually exporting essential goods to feed the people of nk? i know nk isn't very arable, and the goods they do produce are likely horaded for the elite or exported.
i almost think that western nations have a moral obligation to intervene in situations like this--but i know it isn't that simple. what can we really do but watch nk tear itself apart?

Sounds like someone needs a dose of FREEDOM

It's sad to see so many infantile views on North Korea, a state that has been more severely and ruthlesslessly victimized than virtually any other on the planet.
That little "yapping dog" of a nation (to quote another poster) is a nation that has seen up to a third of its civilian population murdered by US carpet bombing and that has been subjected to ever more severe economic isolation for more than six decades---solely for the "crime" of refusing to submit to the installation of a US puppet regime, like the one in its southern neighbor.
Brazen double standards underlie North Korea's portrayal as a "rogue state". This essay reveals not only those double standards, but also the thoroughly rational stance of the North Korean people.
"Since World War II there have been 9000 missile/satellite launches. Four were by the DPRK. There have been 2000 nuclear tests, 3 by the DPRK. But the UN never made a resolution or imposed sanctions against any [other] country for doing that, only [against] the DPRK."
