I just wasted my entire morning watching these two gems in my room.

11:14 kind of interesting, but not great. Kept me watching only because of the method in which the different storylines were revealed, and I wanted to see how it all came together. Overall, though, pretty forgettable. 5/10.
The Killing - Fantastic noir. I hate myself for missing out on this Kubrick film for so long. Brilliantly executed.

Imaginarium of doctor parnassus. Very weird film, but really good too. Great visuals, and Christopher plummer was superb. People are focusing too much on Heath Ledger, he was good but Christopher plummer is the real star. What a fantastic actor. Tom Waits was good too as the devil. It does get a bit lost in it's visuals at times, but never to the point where it loses track of the plot. Lots of interesting symbolism too. Overall it was a fantastic dark fantasy. I give it a 9/10.
The Squid And The Whale. It was pretty good, which goes without saying since it stars Jeff Daniels.guynamedbilly
Jeff is good in pretty much everything. I always considered him a bit underrated. He has been in lots of films, but these days he is a tad underused. Laure Linney was good in that too, she was also great in The Savages. The same director who did Squid and the whale did another film with Jack Black and Nicolas Kidman called Margot at the wedding. It was okay, but the characters were a bit annoying.

That's true. I haven't seen a ton of Laura's movies, but the ones I have seen were all good. The Savages was a well made movie, but there was just something about it that I didn't like. I think Philip Seymour Hoffman's acting was a bit jarring and not very believable. He doesn't always give a reliably good performance, in my opinion, though in some movies like Happiness and Doubt he totally nails it.
