The Air Force and the Obama administration has excluded American aircraft manufacturer Hawker Beechcraft from the light air support aircraft contract and Hawker Beechcraft have filed suit against the GAO for the exclusion. Instead, the contract appears to be going to Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer according to the office of Tim Griffin from Arkansas.

Now, Obama talks about putting Americans to work, but his administration does this and expects the public to believe him. Are you kidding? The woorst is that Hawker Beechcraft has been in on the design from the get go and they pull the rug out from under them. A bit shady if ya ask me. So much for doing what is in the best interests of the country.

What's y'alls take?

Getting on Brazil's grace is probably a good idea considering all the oil that was found off their shores.

I believe the Brazillian company is question has facilities in the US, so those may be manufactured by Americans after all.

Sounds a bit like sour grapes from the American company.

Plus from what I've read about Hawker Beechcraft they may not actually have the means to manufacture in the capacity that the US military requires.

While Embraer may have plants here in the US, the money will still go to Brazil even if made onshore.

There will be workers (aka jobs) in the US though.

My take is that the GAO doesn't work for the President.

Do you have the information that says Embraer isn't undercutting Hawker Beechcraft by a significant amount? Maybe, instead of just thinking about jobs, think about how the tax dollars are spent. So many companies milk government contracts for all they can get. Perhaps this is a step in the other direction.

Bad move on Obama's part imo.
