http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/04/17/stock-act-change-insider-trading_n_3100115.html?utm_hp_ref=business

Who says nothing ever gets done in Washington? Swiftly and without fanfare, Congress and President Obama have made it easier for top federal employees to trade on inside information.

On Monday, Obama signed into a law a change in the Stop Trading On Congressional Knowledge, or STOCK Act, which was passed in 2012. The change, which was approved unanimously by Congress last week, means that top federal employees, including staffers on Capital Hill and in the White House, will not have to publicly disclose their financial holdings online. That requirement was part of the original STOCK Act, but its implementation had been delayed again and again by Congress. And now it's dead.

And people wonder why I say the federal government is evil.  Any group of people that would repeatedly pass laws that make them exempt from the same rules that the "normal people" have to follow can't be trusted.

hartsickdiscipl

We don't wonder. It's cause you're extremely delusional.

also, I'm pretty sure the huffington post is a tabloid.

So you made no logical arguments to counter mine, and you insult me.  You then call the Huffington Post a tabloid.  This is a website that is commonly linked to and quoted by the liberal horde here in OT.

I'm not sure why you bothered to reply to me at all.

ur arguments are pretty easily countered by occam's razor and common sense.

Not surprising. Politicians and bankers are some of the worst people.

The STOCK Act change does not apply to the president, vice president, members of Congress or candidates for Congress.

Meh... They already traded with that information, just from foreign accounts in countries that don't disclose the account information.  All this does and make there be one less hoop for them to jump through... And hey, maybe its for the best... If they both keep the money and trade locally then they are primarily taxed here :)

EDIT: Oh and I like how this is "Obama did it" when it passed unanimously... Even if he veto'd it, it would have been overturned and passed regardless... And I am sure in that case this thread would be "Obama challenges congressional power in an attempt to be more tyrannical" or some other type of utter bullsh-t... Good day, idiots.

IIRC, the STOCK Act was already chock full of loopholes and exceptions. It was passed to placate people upset about the profits politicians pulled in when the economy tanked.
