John McCain hears Obama talk about how inflating tires is a great idea to conserve energy and the Republicans gleefully throw a party and call it inane and how offshore drilling is the future.

http://www.time.com/time/politics/article/0,8599,1829354,00.html?cnn=yes

Basically offshore drilling only gives us 1% more oil by 2030 while maintaining our tires can give us up to 4% more(energy efficient). Michelin is a leading company on this. They are one of the highest quality brands in the world. Goodyear isn't really good, they just advertise more.

Corvette just took the deal away from Goodyear to start using Michelin tires. This is for all the people who think Obama is lacking on his energy plan. Sure I think he should look into nuclear a little more, but he's got the right idea, and Obama needs to release an ad ASAP about how McCain thought that tire improvement was a bad idea.

Or just do what Paris Hilton said and do both of them. Really though I wish Obama would just mortify McCain with that one statistic.

Seriously.....

But overall, both candidates are disappointing.

Offshore drilling is stupid and worthless as much as "inflating tires"

we need a real energy crisis solving.

Nuclear energy, solar energy, wind energy, etc...

I agree that offshore drilling is not the solution. It doesn't address the underlying problem.

Yeah the offshore drilling is a load of BS, but if the Republicans want it as part of some sort of compromise package with real efforts that might help I don't have a problem with limited drilling.

I don't think inflating tires qualifies as an energy policy.

Obama is a Nazi...in 3 years if he becomes president you will see this written all over stop signs and vandilized on walls. I predicted the Bush thing too. I don't share opinions, I just predict them.

We call that a flip-flop.

Anyway, inflating tires is common sense. . . .you're supposed to do that anyway.:|

He never flip flopped on that, you really should do some basic research before making assumptions. His policy was always that oil companies should use the 70 million acres of land & offshore areas that they already have permits to drill in & haven't used yet.

And if you want to talk about policy changes(flip-flops), then you should know McCain is the king of that.

He supports oil drilling for where the companies already have permits, but when it comes to expanding it, it's a different story.

From July 30

Now, Obama supports expanding it. From August 5.

It's a flip flop. Do your research.

I don't see any issue with what he said in that article. He wants them to use the permits they have and is against giving them more offshore permits. Sounds fine to me. In 10 years I don't want us to be relying on that. I'd rather we let the oil companies use what they have right now and in the meantime spend more money on research & development of new battery technology and putting up more wind and solar plants. Also research more into hydrogen fuel cell tech.

McCain support Nuclear Energy, if you don't suppor that then get out there and run on some treadmills all day and generate our electricity your self than. Nuclear energy is the way to go, McCain will stress that more than Obama so I feel McCain will do a better job with the energy Crisis.

Thanks I didn't see that. That is disappointing actually. I still could never vote for McCain, but I don't like seeing Obama cave in.

Heh, it's a good idea of course, though it's obvious and nothing new. McCain was right when he said that it was more of a public service announcement.
