Obama plays more golf in 9 months than Bush played in 2 years and 10 months.

The man is the President of the United States. It's an incredibly stress full job. It's ok to play golf to unwind but that seems like too much.

From personal experience, the average round of golf takes around five hours to complete.

If he's played 24 rounds of golf, that means that he's spent around 120 hours playing golf thus far.

There are about 6480 hours in nine months (going by 30 days in a month).

That means that Obama has spent approximately 1.85% of his time as president playing golf.

That means that Obama has spent about 98.15% of his time as president not playing golf.

That means that this is a total nonissue. :P

Presidents are human, therefore they need some time to wind down. Personally, I don't care how much time a president spends playing golf just so long as they can govern the nation. Bush or Obama, this is just getting petty.

this is not a problematic behaviour in itself this only becomes an issue if someone decides to raise this as an issue it would be a problematic behavioural pattern if he decided to neglect certain presidential functions because he wanted to play golf

9 months, roughly thirty days in a month, so 270, divided by about 24, so he golfs once every 10-11 days or so...Not that much if you think about it.

Yes, and those vacation days, for ANY president, is still chock full of work. For example,

"At the ranch, White House officials say, Bush continues to receive daily national-security briefings, sign documents, hold teleconferences with aides and military commanders, and even meet with foreign leaders. And from the president's point of view, the long Texas stints are the best way to clear his mind and reconnect with everyday America." link

Expect Obama to do this as well (and expect him to receive the same ignorant bashing)

Well yes. Technically the president is on call 24/7. He best receive briefings etc. It's not like a typical 9 to 5 job.

+1. People seem to expect the world from their Presidents. Whether it's a few golf games each month, or a holiday in Crawford, they hate the idea the POTUS doesn't have his nose to the wheel 24/7.

And Obama get's more work done on the golf course then Bush did in the Oval Office.

Though not a fan of "tit-for-tat" behavior, I do find it somewhat fun to watch liberals squirm under the constant microscope Obama is being placed under....as though that has never happened to a previous President.

Just curious, the people that are saying this is a non-story, were yall one of the 152785465897452214697 liberal/democrats who ***ched about Bush going golfing??

Democrat or republican. it's all really trivia since they are just illusions of choice. Obama hasn't done any of the major changes from that Bush did. Our government is still in wars and expanding them, we're still electronically monitored, they can still violate hideous Corpus, and our government still has the interests of Wall Street and big corporations over the ppls' interests. So keep fighting about the little stuff while ignoring how little the important stuff has changed.

I don't care if the guy plays golf, but Democrats should seeing as they whined incessantly about Bush doing it.

The only thing I think is screwed to hell and back is that Barry has been golfing while Afghanistan is getting worse and his reply is essentially, "Don't RUSH ME I'm THINKING." Well, you might want to cut the golf back until you decide how to wage a war, Dumbo -- boys are over there getting their asses shot off and your commanders are screaming for you to do something. This has been the bloodiest war in Afghanistan since it started, and you're off playing golf while people die. Yeah, doesn't look good, unless you want to look even more like Jimmy Carter II.

Personally what I find more funny are all the Democrats using Bush's actions as justifiable reasoning for Obama, like, "Well, BUSH DID IT TOO!1" Yeah, and you hated Bush, right? Your point is?

So? I play more video games in week then they could play golf in their entire lifetimes. I spend two-sevenths (28.6%) minimum of my life goofing off. What's that compared to his 1.whatever%, or Bush's for that matter. Yeah Bush spent alot of time on vacation but I have different conspiricy theorys about that (moslty involving Cheney).

Um, the reason why the administration is holding off on a decision on Afghanistan is because of the fraudulent election that took place a short time ago, and now they pretty much have to wait for the runoff election, because that would greatly impact the effectiveness of any counterinsurgency plan. Counterinsurgency can't work when the government is corrupt up the wazoo.

That's a lame reason if that's really why they're holding off -- wedid it in Iraq --counterinsurgency, a troop surge, AND an election.

Its really not a big deal. The man has a high stress job, and I really dont care if he takes 10 hours a week or whatever to play 36 holes of golf.

You people act like he should be working 24/7 and I am sure he does at times, which is all the more reason he needs to play some golf. If I were doing a month-long tour around the state, giving speeches, I would definately take out the mayor and other local politcians for four-five hours at a local golf course to play

Lighten up, folks, he is only human after all.

Maybe that would be acceptable for any other high demanding job. But if your the president of the United States during a time like this, you shouldn't be on vacation at all. 98.15% isn't acceptable.
