Israel is key to US Diplomacy. If the Muslim World eventually accepts Israel, the positive effect on US relations with ALL those countries would be IMMEDIATE.

President Obama knows this and wants them to focus on peace between themselves and the Palestinians. This type ofrhetoric is expected.

The Palestinians have no allies. The Arab World has abandoned them and is just as guilty as the West regarding their current plight. Arab leaders use Israeli treatment of Palestians as an example to distract the population from their own problems. Palestinians are used in this regard to placate the populations of Arab countries. Look at Egypt; they are currently enforcing a blockade of Gaza as well. The Jordanians don't want the Palestinians, the Lebanese don't, and neither do the Syrians. They all just talk like they actually care.
