Obama shaping up to be one of the most succesful presidents since Reagan or FDR

Seriously, Obama has accomplished more in little over a year than most presidents wish to accomplish their entire run as president. Healthcare reform (its not a perfect bill but its a huge start) major nuke treaty signed with russia the biggest in 2 decades, Financial reform all but certain to pass, Dont Ask Dont Tell on the way to pass by the end of this year, revived our economy from a potential great depression part 2 (Jobs growing again, GDP growing for 3 consecutive quarters). So for no terrorist attacks (keyword attacks, those that attempted to attack us have been caught and are talking and giving valid information) the iraq war still on track to end in 3 months.

I was a big fan of Bill Clinton and Ronald Reagan (I would consider myself a Reagan democrat) im a moderate with a slight left lean, i have to say Obama is doing on hell of a job.. His approval numbers might not show it now, but then again lets keep in mind that both Reagan and Clinton where both at a 39% approval rating at this same poing in their presidencies.

If you call getting bills passed that the majority doesn't want success, he has been successful. If you call claiming "racial profilling" about bills that don't racially profile and putting cops in danger success, then yeah I guess.

its not impossible but personally I think we will see that Obama has made several long term decisions that will pay off bigger than the short term ones he could have been making to get higher poll numbers.

Well, it's the fact that he was caught covering it up. Had he not been caught, or had he not attempted to cover it up, he'd be seen as one of the better presidents. FDR, for example, got away with the surveillance thing and is now loved. And admittedly, he was a good president.

No...just, no. Let's wait and see results. As of now, it's too early to tell. And successful can be defined in different ways.

And FDR really wasn't successful. I wouldn't consider taking 10 years to get out of a depression "successful". Even his own Treasury Secretary, who designed the New Deal, admitted that they failed.

- End the Iraq War? No (People say he's better than Bush because he's decreasing the number of troops, but he's got contractors replacing them anyway)

- End Warrantless wiretapping? No (Actually, he flip flopped on this in the middle of his campaign)

- Close the detention center at Guantanamo Bay? No (Although he's supposedly been trying to get it done)

- Health Care Reform? Debatable (I would say no because the health care bill was severely watered down before it was passed)

On the topic of Obama's success, it is not unusual for a new president to use their momentum to get a lot of stuff passed early in their presidency. It is the result that comes from this legislation, along with the success of the president's foreign policy, moral message, and ability to handle crises throughout their presidency that determines success or failure IMO.
