Obama to ban assault rifles

No! I just I got my .60 cal assualt rifle! Why Obama, why!?

I'm sure I'll be given numerous reasons that won't change my mind in any way...

But what possible use do American citizens have for an assault rifle? 

I don't own an assault rifle, I don't plan on owning an assault rifle...

I'm fine with it.

I don't care either way for a number of reasons:

1. I am not American

2. I do not own an assault rifle

3. I will never own an assault rifle

I'm sure I'll be given numerous reasons that won't change my mind in any way...

Sport. Competitions, etc. They aren't much use for hunting, but they're freaking cool. anyway, they're semi-automating, just like everything else, so why single them out? They're no more dangerouse than any other gun, except they have a bigger magazine. P.S. What's wrong with my pole??mechworrior762

I'd say Assault weapons are designed to kill people rather than have other purposes as well... that is why they are singled out.

I really can't think of a sport where an assault rifle is needed... unless of course there are new fishing competitions in the US... grenades and rifles fishing league?

I don't see what the average American citizen would need an assault rifle for (except competitions, like mentioned above). I mean, seriously...

Pistols will still be legal. Besides if you suck at shooting things with a pistol, you are a horrible marksman and shouldn't have a higher caliber weapon.

I participate in a sport that requires the use of "assault weapons", its a type of competition shooting called USPSA 3 gun. It is considered to be the "Formula 1" of shooting due to the level of skill required to compete in it.

Yeah, looks like I will be accelerating my AR build. Hopefully a nice fat Christmas bonus will help with that.

As for what use do people have with one. What use does a Corvette or Ferrari have?? I mean, nobody needs to go that fast. We should ban them.

I'll be getting back into competition with mine as well as using it for home defense. Really don't want to be working a bolt or having to load each round.

Your talking about an amendment written in the 18th century during the time of war where many people hunted and a lot of people owned guns....just because it is an amendment doesnt mean it should be subject to change as we progress.

I'll be getting back into competition with mine as well as using it for home defense. Really don't want to be working a bolt or having to load each round.

You hardly live in Afghanistan... you could defend your house with a handgun if you need a gun that much, you don't need to fire 30 rounds through a wall ripping an intruder to shreds...

Many believe the 2nd amendment guarantees that the people hold the ultimate check on government.

Thanks, its taken me a long time to get to the level I'm at now.

This is why I feel it is very unfair to victimize someone such as myself who clearly has a legitimate use for these firearms.

And you don't have to kill with an AR. And any gun is capable of killing.

I do say that Hand guns are designed to kill people, and I do think they should be banned... however, I know in the US that it is impossible to take guns out of circulation both for the mentality of having a gun and for the sheer amount of guns there are in the US.

An assault rifle on the other hand has no real use besides  the competition that guy showed, and to kill people. At least with a hand gun you can aim to incapacitate someone, with an assault rifle, you are basically going to fire all over the shop (unless you actually are trained in using one) and kill the guy in your home.

Anyone who thinks they should own a gun to protect themselves from the government shouldnt own a gun because they obviously arent in the right mind set. And so what if it takes another amendment, doesn't mean it cant or shouldn't be changed. It was written about 250 years ago, and isnt as relevant in todays society as it was then.

i think you should stop living in paranoia that a platoon of men are going to come busting your door down and robbing you blind...home defense is not an excuse to own an assault rifle, it is an excuse made up in an attempt to make it seem necessary for people to own them, and its a bad excuse.
