Do you work in fast food? How about retail? Sucks to be you then. Straight from the absurdly leftist Yahoo! News, the propoganda organization exposes exactly how Obamacare, by legislative design, is going to rob you blind (by making sure you aren't scheduled fore more than 30 hours/week, thus resulting in smaller paychecks) and, oddly enough, deny you health insurance (none through your employer, anyway).

http://finance.yahoo.com/blogs/the-exchange/fast-food-chains-cut-worker-hours-blame-obamacare-224911846.html

Who would have thought you'd end up getting severely punished in the aftermath of Hope and Change? Hmm ... the more ya know ...

Yahoo isn't leftist. They just flamebait constantly for hits.

They also have a horrendous community of users.

Damn for the conservative owners of those establishments this is like a wet dream.

Don't have to pay for their employee's insurance because they work less than 30 hours.

Don't have to pay their employee's overtime because they won't let them work over 30 hours.

Blame Obama for everything while pocketing the large amounts of money they are gaining by doing this.

You guys must be jumping for joy!

A public option would go a long way in keeping in check an out of control for-profit healthcare system. Hopefully Obamacare is a first step toward achieving that.

Just think America is getting fatter everyday so it won't be long before everyone needs a doctor and a prescription list the size of an Americans KFC receipt so one day those retail workers will be out of work because they can't get out of bed due to fatness and will be praising Obamacare.

A public option won't make healthcare cheaper... Insurance companies can only lower their rates so much... They are a business, they have to make a profit to exist. So long as the companies that make the medical products, medicines, etc charge enormous sums, healthcare will be expensive... Insurance is only expensive because the treatments, doctors, medicines, etc they are paying for is expensive.

The only way healthcare gets cheap is if it becomes entirely government regulated (as in no free enterprise to invent a treatment, medication, etc and sell it for whatever you want). And that will never happen because that is communist.

Every third party analysis shows that these fast food chains could very well afford the insurance and using it as a scapegoat to cut employee hours and spread their political agenda. These people don't give a shit about you or their employees.

Remember Papa Johns? They campaigned they couldn't afford the $5 - $8 million annually for health care so they're raising prices and slashing hours.

Meanwhile they're marketing 2 million free pizzas, costing them $24 - $34 million this year alone.

Obamacare really does little to address the rising costs of healthcare other than by magically saying it will cut 500$ billion dollars from medicare, but cover more people and not cut services. Not sure how you do that. Guess you could cut payments by 30-50%, but that would most likely cause a massive reduction in providers and thus indirectly be cutting services and coverage. Got to address the costs first with intelligent solutions. Not everyone can get everything all the time.

He had also previously stated it would cost a certain amount per pizza to match Obamacare. However the price increase is significantly more than his claim and he's cutting hours on top of that. Basically it's BS .

You know what's cool? They don't have to "afford it" if they don't want to. That's kind of the beauty of free enterprise. They'll cut hours to maneuver around Obamacare. Exactly as predicted by every logical analysis. Guess them there analyses you brought up don't mean diddly now do they? Every force has an equal and opposite reaction.

Doesn't change the fact these companies will maneuver around the mandates. They just won't announce it to the press. Doesn't take a third party analysis to recognize that.

Thank Jesus it was overturned.

And flouting labor requirements has been a staple of the fast food industry practically since its inception. Fast food chains regularly schedule workers for more hours than they're supposed to, yet do it in a way that cuts them off from full-time benefits. It's fairly common, in fact, for fast food managers to ask high school employees to work more than sixty hours a week (despite high schoolers being legally limited to around twenty hour weeks) and ask them to not report the majority of those hours officially so as not to qualify them for full-time benefits. "Obamacare" is just the latest scapegoat of the fast food lobby thinktanks.

^This guy gets it.

And actually, they do work more than 30 hours, they're just coereced into not reporting those hours officially so that employers can get full-time labor for part-time prices.

I'm against Obamacare, period. Isn't it disgusting?-- the federal government can now tell you that you have to buy a product (health insurance is a product) or be fined. Not to mention that it breaks Obama's promise of "no tax increases if you make under $250K/yr." The Supreme Court declared the fine to be a tax. Unfortunately, Romney was too soft to take things like this and slam Obama with them.

Tax increases, drastically expanded government, class warfare, putting illegal immigrants above US citizens, etc. With "change" like this, I can hardly wait to see what the next few years bring...

The moral of the story is if you want good benefits, get out of retail and fast food, the people at the top of those industries are slime-balls who only care about their quartly return. You can also effect changes by shoping local. You want a burger? I can assure you their are several mom and pop places that not only have superior product, but superior customer service as well. They'll dodge. lie, cheat, and steal in the name of the all-mighty dollar and there's nothing you can do to change that short of getting rid of capitalism (yeah I said it).

Also LOL at the people crying about the government forcing you to gt some type of health insurance, I hope you are JUST as vocal about vehicle insurance requirments also. The fact of the matter is we as citizens have to have some type of resposibility, because SOMEONE has to pay these medical costs.
