A few of my friends have occasional smokes off and on, but I'm sure it's more than just OCCASIONAL. Some people just fool themselves by saying the word "Occasional" and don't want to accept the fact that they are already dependent on cigarrettes. I think all the occassional smokings lead to an addiction. What about you OT, do you smoke occasionally? not hooked to it?

Well I don't smoke personally, but I definitely have a few friends who only smoke when they drink and even then it's rare when I see them smoke. So yeah occasional smokers certainly exist.

I smoke once or twice a month with a couple friends of mine. I've never felt a craving for it.

I don't smoke cigarettes but I occasionally smoke cigars and pipes. I'm perfectly fine with it and I don't think it is that terrible for me, as long as I'm not smoking consistently.

I'll occasionally have a cigar, or a bowl of tobacco out of my pipe, but never cigarettes.

I've never seen the point to a cigar. I don't taste anything and you just blow the smoke out. People tell me I need to buy an expensive one but I'm nervous I'll spend $20 just to have the same experience.

Occasional smokers exist yes. But let's face it: It always starts like that.

I know a few people that used to do that actually. They smoked at parties, the every weekend, then twice a weak, then every day. They're practically addicted to it.

A few manage to not fall into it though. A single smoke won't addict you.

Personnally, I find it more apealing to just burn money on the fireplace. It will warm you up and it won't **** up your lungs.

Eh? I can't agree, a cigar has a very nice (a nice cigar at least) aroma, and a rather complex flavour. There are many parts of the cigar to appreciate, and the headbuzz is always a bonus.

I'm what you would call an occasinal smoker I guess. I'll smoke a cigarette a few times a week (never everyday).

Sometimes though, I'll go for like a month or more without smoking and I don't have any cravings. To me smoking is something relaxing that you do to unwind, much like having occasinal drinks with friends. Addiction is for fools and people without self-control.

the aroma is an opinion. I personally like the smell, but i know people who dont. Much better than stinking cigarette smoke

Your idea goes against the grain, even people with self control can fall into the hole of addiction. Just like one of my friends did, all bragging about never getting addicted, he found himself smoking a pack a day! :|

It is an opinion, but why would you smoke a cigar if you don't like the aroma? Waste of money then. Any smoke is better than cigarette smoke, except rubber burning.

I often go weeks or months without my smokes. And when I have a pack it can take me anywhere from a week to half a year to finish. I don't consider myself addicted and smoking at a rate like mine is pretty insignificant in terms of long term damage considering I've been joggin 3 miles a day for the past 4 years which is as long as I've been smoking and have experienced no deline in endurance. Think what you want about occasional smoking and addiction but it's not as addictive and health impacting as you think.

There's a huge difference between a stogie and good cigar.

Think Coors Light vs Guiness, or Kraft Parmesan vs freshly grated.

I agree. I love a good cigar every now and then. If you can't appreciate the flavors and aroma than it's not worth smoking. This post reminded me, my humidor is almost empty :(
