If you take infilation into account, Titantic made more money...but then again, if you take inflation into account then 1939 film Gone with the Wind is the biggest money maker of all time.Doesnt Avatar cost more to see since you pay more because of the 3D glasses?-Fromage-Yes, this also helped alot
Doesnt Avatar cost more to see since you pay more because of the 3D glasses?-Fromage-
true, but i know in my town you can see it in both 3d and 2d, so you "have" to buy the glasses. but i think its about time someone knocked titanic off its high horse......coincidentally, james cameron beat out his own movie....hahaha
Titanic wouldn't even be on the top of the list if you adjust inflation. Face it guys, Titanic has lost it's crown. In reality it hasn't. Because you have to adjust the numbers for inflation.

Doesnt Avatar cost more to see since you pay more because of the 3D glasses?-Fromage-so? Titanic had you pay more than black and white movies because of color :| I'm tired of hearing the "technology" debate, yes it's more expensive but people are WILLING to pay for that extra. This list is NOT about attendance, it's about gross.

So if everybody is paying more to see this movie, Avatar would reach the number 1 spot quicker because it was earning more per ticket price.
2 months ago people would laugh at the idea of Avatar even coming close to Titanic. I remember on one of the first reviews on Rottentomatoes, a critic predicted it would surpass Titanic and people pretty much said "that critic lost all credibility". She seems pretty credible now.
