TOMATOMETER

38%

Average Rating:5.2/10

Reviews Counted:14
Fresh: 8 | Rotten: 6

So far it has a 57%, down from 80% and 67% earlier today. Not many reviews so we'll see what happens.

We all know the Transformers movies aren't exactly "Critic Friendly" but some of those reviews are just pathetic. How do some of these reviewers pass as critics?

Anyway discuss what you think and if your going to the special screenings/midnight premieres. I know I will be at a special screening today at 9p.m.

Can't wait. :D

I'm honestly surprised that it's getting such high ratings. Still, it could easily drop into the 20s by the end of the week - or has Michael Bay suddenly learned how to make a decent movie over the last few years?

never cared for movie reviews... how can i when some of my favourite movies got average aggregates. rush hour - 62% Ace ventura - 47% die hard with a vengeance - 49%.. just facepalm worthy.. anyways..it looks like a typical michael bay action explosive movie.. if you like those (which i do) than great.. (unfortunately im not a fan of movies which have 99% cgi in them) havnt seen much of it so i cant comment.. i can say though that they replaced megan fox with a less extractive interest.

I'm going to go see it tomorrow regardless. We all know nothing can compare to the 1986 cartoon, but it's better than nothing.

I thought the same before seeing Transformers 2. After almost walking out of the cinema, I now know better. :(

Hehe, even though the films aren't the best iteration of the transformers storyline(s), I can't help but be excited to go 'n watch it. I've been a fan of them longer than most people on this board have been alive (my spare room, rather sadly is like a shrine to TF (i'm 34)). I still stand by what i said, they're better than nothing, although they could've been so much better.

I never cared for such ratings by RT or IMDb. I watched many movies which were rated above 97% on RT, both by critics and audiences and didn't enjoy the. that's when I stopped folowing RT ratings.

It is obvious that the critics do not care for action. Not everyone wants character development and storytelling like the King's Speech. Some times people just want to watch stuff blow up. Watching movies is my hobby and I will see almost anything. But if you ask me if I'm more excited about Dark of the Moon in IMAX 3D or Larry Crowne, I will pick the loud action every time.

If the action scenes are creative, I believe critics would praise it.

Ain't that the truth. If you need someone elses approval before you go and watch a film then that's just stupid.

Uh if you read the reviews most of the critics do praise the action scenes. They just trash the movie as a whole.

Its a Micheal Bay movie, its not about acting or deep storylines... its about CGI, effects and explosions. Sometimes I go to the movies just for that.

Expecting a movie to be crappy, then being proved right, does not increase enjoyment of said movie. I'll also add that Wall-E had a robot as a main character, and was critically praised.

Critics do enjoy action, when its creative, original and isn't a series of loud sounds, explosions and quick cuts to make the action seem chaotic. Critics did love Avatar, The Dark Knight, and Inception because they did have some truly great action sequences.

But more importantly, they had a good plot and characters, which made the action sequence matter. Action sequences in Transformers have no purpose at all.

Why does everyone use Rotten Tomatoes? It's a complete waste of time. Critics can't give a movie a C+ or a B, but rather a 0 (rotten tomato) or a 10 (nice tomato), It skews the ranking system insanely. Use yahoo movies instead. It puts together the top critics, with their exact score tallied in. For example, The Green Lantern got a cumulative "C" ranking, which if you've seen the film, is pretty spot on. RT gave it a 27% which is incredibly misleading.

You dont need approval, but you might wanna know if a movie is worth shelling out 12 bucks for. (even more in 3D, with a family of four, etc.)

I learned to realize that just because we grew up with a particular show or franchise, it doesn't mean it's exclusive to that generation.

I grew up with the G1 series, my brother was raised with the Beast Wars/Beast Machines series, and my cousins were fans of the Armada storyline. There are probably kids who've just been introduced to the franchise for the first time with this version, and the Transformers: Prime series. For a franchise that's been out for almost 30 years, it's amazing that it has the lifespan that it has, be it good or bad.

Critics do two things, they either recommend a movie or they don't. That's what RottenTomatoes accumulates, whether a critic recommended the movie or not. Many critics don't even use any grading system anyways and simply write a review.

Yes, they either recommend it or they do not, then average that out...like I pretty much stated. But I have no idea what you are talking about SamuraiX, most, if not all ciritcs give a rating, either with 4 stars, or a grade.....

Then I don't understand your complaint. They seperate the positive reviews from the negative ones, and average out the rating for each review.

Just because a film has a higher tomatometer doesn't mean it's the better film, it just means there are more positive reviews. Both of these films have almost the same amount of reviews, yet the film with the lower tomatometer has the higher average rating.

Funny how you mention Larry Crowne, because that's almost doing just as bad as TF3. I would also like to mention that the first Iron Man got a 95% on RT. Thor and Fast Five were in the high 70s. All three of them are action movies.
