Off-topic and rules, rules, rules...

Do you think it would just be easier to make a floated thread listing the things we are allowed to say and topics we are allowed to make? For as long as I've been here people OT has been the place for people to goof around, provided it stayed within the rules of the site, not getting too spiteful etc. I don't understand why the moderators now seem to be so eager to 'outlaw' things. Don't think that you can turn this place into a forum for serious discussion, there are UCBs and unions for that. You wouldn't try to turn SW into GGD, so why try and turn OT into 'Important social issue discussion'. It feels unnecessary.

Just a whole bunch of "Should I do this," "The world will end then" and "God or no god" topics.

However, we could do without all these silly add-ons. Suicide threads will get posted, no matter what the mods do. They don't need to penalize everyone else for it.

But the same kind of threads are being recycled at an increasingly faster rate, since the new rules are unclear to some new users who want to post an out-of-the-ordinary topic.

I agree completely. Part of the reason why I never post here anymore is because of exactly that. What we're left with is no personality, just bland generic threads that never come close to making an interesting point or discussion, that would make coming on here worthwhile. It seems the only ones not complaining are those hoping to raise their post counts by coming on here, and not for the comminity, which defeats the whole objective of a forum.southy787
