This time it's an officer shooting a docile unarmed man in the back and paralyzing him for life. I understand that most cops are good but the amount of corrupt pricks that slip under the radar is unacceptable.

Are you a fool or what? If this was a random person shooting someone and paralyzing them, you would not be so lenient. It is ridiculous to see people suck the law's ****. You people make me sick. How can you honestly justify this by saying "accidents happen"?

If you wanna read my next post you can take that back now or I can argue the point if you wish.

If this happened to your son, you would not be in the same mind set. You are also very ignorant. A cop rarely saves a life. They usually respond to a crime scene where the crime has already been committed. Only you can save your life when someone pulls their gun on you with the intent to kill.

That would be a ignorant comment, cops do save lives, their are bad cops who F up alot and there are others who just don't tolerate anything and just shoot first ask later, but there are cops who actualy know what they are doing.

WTF! i couldent believe that @#!%$ did that! That poor guy will have to live the rest of his life in a wheelchair all because this cop thinks he is above the law. We have corupt coppers here is Australia too and if you ask me they should be sentenced more harshly for their crimes....I hope this copper gets a knife to his spine once he is in jail.

No it doesn't. Things like this should never EVER happen. That cop was far far far far too quick to pull his gun and even worse on pulling the trigger. It's not like this was some accident, the cop actively and intentionally shot an unarmed docile man in the back. He should definitely get the full 11 years. I think corrupt cops should get an extra penalty for things like this for abusing a position of power. Then maybe that would help put a stop to it.

Absolutely terrible judgement there, but you can sort of see why he made it, as they say at the end of the video, they way he moves does look suspicious, but still, you don't shoot someone until you're sure they're armed surely, or at least until they make a hostile action. The officer should have done two things first, 1. Said something, he doesn't even say, put your hands up or get off the bike, and then 2. Fired a warning shot if he was still suspicious.

I watched the video and that's horrible. Also the whole "he should have put his arms up" defense is null because the cop didn't ask him to.

A generalization perhaps...but if someone HAS only had bad impressions of cop.....then I can see that conclusion. I wouldn't call it idiotic though.

Why yes it's another example of police brutality, which is unfortunate.

But why can't we hear some good things about the police for a change?

Okay yeah idiotic is probably a bit harsh, but I have known many good cops and barely any bad ones so it must depend on personal experience for most. A good friend of mine's brother is a cop and he is one of the nicest guys I know and he has gone out of his way to help people so the "I hate cops." generalization annoys me a bit. Mostly because I hear it from people who got pulled over for speeding.

You don't think the cops attitude plays into that? I watched how cops treat people and they aren't all nice. Knowing someone socially is not the same as knowing them professionally.

The cop was a moron and should be spending time behind bars no doubt. The problem these days is recruitment, plain and simple, very few people want to be a cop, it's a **** job. The few people who do have delusions about bringing justice to the streets soon get a reality check and realize it's not the career they had built it up to be. And so departments are forced to turn to numbskulls who sign up because they'll get a gun and a license to kill. And so given that reality, do incidents like this actually surprise people when they occur?

I'm sure a lot of cops treat people like crap for small offenses, but to hate all cops because of one still seems a bit ridiculous to me. I can understand if a cop did something horrible to you, but if a cop was just a jerk when he pulled you over that seems a bit much. Plus the people i know who got pulled over for speeding are known for talking on the cell phone while speeding so I can understand why they would be pulled over. I even heard about a guy who was on the phone while speeding and was pulled over by a cop and when the cop came up to his window and asked him to hang up the phone he held his hand up and told the cop to hold on. I'm not sure how true that is though. Both extremes of opinions on cops are not ideal. It is silly both to think all cops are good guys, and to think all cops are bad guys.

Well you are assuming someone hates cops just because they got a speeding ticket. I doubt that is that majority reason. It's undoubtedly the experience altogether that gives that impression.

A mistake that crippled a man, potentially for life. This officer has to be punished severely for his actions regardless of whether it was a mistake or not.

The cop should have his badge taken, and he should be sitting in jail. That was no accident. It was psycho cop havin a psycho day at the office and wanted to take it out on someone... thats what it looks like to me anyways. ... Not all cops have halos... and not all cops have devil horns. There are cops out there who give other cops a bad name (like this guy here..), and its easier to soil a name then it is to defend it and make it honorable. Some cops power trip... many of the cops that I know.. that i went to school with... they power trip bad, and they are not the same as they were in school at all. .. I guess with power comes great responsibility is almost an understatement when it comes to police..

I live in NYC, i can't stand our cops even the rent a cops that work at train stations and such are jerks. I was standing in line at a burger king and this cop walks in and goes all the way to the front (Line was very long BTW BK is slow.) and just stands there. So the cashier tells him to get in the back if he wants his order taken and he grunts and moans like a little kids then storms out.

A little off topic yes but you see what i mean, guys like that are there to protect us? Ill take my chances thank you.

Watched the video..that's pretty screwed up. There shouldn't even be a trial it's fairly obvious from the video that the cop had no reason to do what he did. Since when did police have guns drawn for a traffic stop?

Firing a warning shot is not legal. Not in my state anyways. To my knowledge that only happens in the movies.

*facepalm* That cop could easily have not shot him. The guy barely even turned and he was shot. Way too touchy. Are we now going to start profiling people on motorcycles too?
