Which one of these are right.

3. a. Bring a folder, a highlighter, a pad of paper, and your notes to the meeting

or b. Bring a folder, highlighter, pad of paper, and your notes to the meeting.

I'm saying/thinking b, from some past rule in English. But I'm not sure, and I'm rusty on this stuff.

I think it is A. Is it an exercise in indefinate articles?

Nah man, A doesn't look right for some reason I'm a Pseudo intellectual, so I just go off of what looks/sounds right some time, but I'm still thinking B

Ok so, A has "a" before every article, and this is a listing. If you're making a listing the need for "a" isn't there since the commas already insist.

B. You don't need to repeat the preposition "a" for a list, in this case it stands for "one of" and as long as the quantity of the items in a list doesn't change you don't need to reuse it.

EDIT: A is not a preposition it's an indefinite article. My statement is still applicable.

I cant believe I didnt notice that. Thanks. Anyways both answers are correct but the B option is used more nowadays.

The problem is, the final article is different from that of the first three. This seems to suggest you should include all the articles...

A. is correct. Using an article in the beginning typically means you have to repeat it throughout the sentence, if it reads like a list.

But in the end what says that you mustnt iclude all the articles.

All I heard people say here is that you dont have to which doesnt mean you mustnt...

They both mean the same damn thing, does it really matter? They both make sense to me but to be PC I'll go for A. Though to speak it out loud I'd probably go with B.

Well, I think that if there is no change in article, you don't need to include the articles. It's the change that (imo) requires the use of the articles.

Yeah but nothing implies that you mustnt use them; only that you dont have to.

And that doesnt make option A wrong.

If I had to pick one, I'd go with "A" due to that reason. Still, both "sound" correct to me..and as someone said above, I'd probably go with "B" when actually speaking.

I'm going to go with B, because when I think of A I hear an English teacher saying it's wrong. And plus like others have said, in speaking B sounds more correct.
