So, I want to be a photographer when i get a little older, and New york is a good place to take photos.

i think that alot of places that appear great usually is a unsafe place (i.e california-earthquakes hawaii-volcanos florida-hurricanes,allgators etc.) so now Im thinking about NY. is the crime really that Bad?

if your living or lived in NY pls answer. anyone else, bring actual facts to prove a statement

Assuming you are talking about New York City and not the state as a whole...it really isn't that bad. Giuliani cleaned it up a hell of a lot. But still, depends where you go. Manhattan is generally fine, mainly due to the fact that there are so many people around at all hours of the day and night, but if you are alone in dark side streets you should stay alert. (it really is the city that never sleeps) some of the other boroughs can get a little risky...Bronx gets nasty and so do some parts of Queens and Brooklyn, Flatbush area in particular. Just keep your wits about you and use some common sense and you'll be just fine.

It's generally safe, but there are certain neighborhoods you want to avoid at all costs.

its a big city. What the hell do you think the crime's like? Coke fiends get shot all over the walls in the worst of worst neighborhoods and their corpses are found in east river. But if you live in most of NY, it's not bad.

he said it because you sound like you have these irrational fears- volcanos and alligators? WTF? who is afraid of alligators? Crime sure, but not alligators.

Dont twist my words. I didnt say i was afraid of them. alligators Clearly arent good things, therefore, if alligators appear in someone's backyard (which they do) you woundt want to live there if you could go somewhere else (for free, Hypothetically speaking)

Like any big city the majority of it is nice and safe.
However the lowest income areas, like any big city.
Are extremely dangerous. Stay away from projects in the South Bronx.

The city is perfectly safe, as long as you don't do something stupid like decide to walk alone in a bad neighborhood at night.

I don't think he has anything to get over.:| All he said is that alligators and volcanoes can be dangerous. How is that not true?

If it's anything like the crime in Liberty City then I'd say the crime there is doing fine.

I gotta admit, i can kinda relate to how TC could have a warped image of how much of a threat the crime rate in NYC may or may not pose. Especially if you listen to rap.

Every place has dangers, New York can get hurricanes, he probably shouldn't move there either. So yes, yes he does have a safety issue he needs to get over. :|

I've been all over New York, and I've noticed that it's not as bad as it's often portrayed. I mean, yes, there is a lot of crime...but it isn't everywhere. As long as you don't do stupid things like walk around in bad neighborhoods or shady parts of the various boroughs, you should be fine.
