we wont know for a couple days what it will do, but this one you will probably have to worry about unlike gustav. if it goes back out to the gulf and doesn't hit florida, it may very well reach a cat. 5 and hit the coast at a 3 or 4.

New Orleans should have never been rebuilt at that spot. It should drop a warning about a city that is like a soup bowl below sea level not to build in a common hurricane path. They should of learned from their mistake instead trying to deify mother natural.

I think for the sake of all the people living in new orleans, they should all move somewhere else. And the government should help them. Instead of spending tons of money rescuing people and restoring the city. I think the best decision would be to simply abandon the city.

i don't think that is an option. the city would become a hell-hole for crime to fester. The only option is hurricane proof the city as best as possible and for the people there to take their lumps for living in such a stupid place for a city.

BTW, the money to prepare the city should mostly come from local taxes, not from the federal government. i really hope that the people there elected better leaders to be more prepared for this kind of thing. The ones they had before were pathetic.

How? If the city were literally abandoned; no stores, no gas stations, nothing open. How could crime, or anyone for that matter fester there?

If the city was a complete ghost town, that would be such a waste. Do you suppose they blow the whole city up afterwards.

For the sake of the people, I think it would be fine. I mean what's the point of living there if you're going to have to evacute, risk lives, and damages millions of dollars of property on a bimonthly basis? (I'm kinda exaggerating but you get my point)

Not looking forward to IKE. I just got power back in my house after 5 days. It has been miserable. No generator and hot as you know. I live in Baton Rouge and BR looks like a War Zone. Gustav hit us hard and I ke looks to be even stronger. I hate hurricane season. we were pretty lucky. Our neighbor had two trees get up rooted and fall on their house.

What he is trying to say is, go on with your life, and stop going back to New Orleans because its just going to happen like every damn year.

or... he wants you to make some dinner.

It does, but New Orleans is historically ridden with criminals. Especially in poltics. Almost as bad as Chicago.
