Terrible idea.
You don't want to use your old installation of XP on your new machine. When moving from one set of hardware to another (in particular, when the motherboard of a machine changes,) you'll want a fresh install with a Windows operating system. You do NOT want to use an old XP installation that's configured for a completely different set of hardware; you're pretty much guaranteed to run into problems.

Like what? All of my games (including very old Windows-based ones) function perfectly on Vista. What are you trying to play that isn't working for you?
Don't even think about it. Your old drive won't even boot in your new machine. (well maybe in safe mode) You'll have completeley different graphics hardware in your new machine. Plus as previous poster said, different motherboard, again different drivers.
If you hate vista that much you're better off formatting your new drive and installing XP on it. But if I was you I'd stick with vista because you have to make the change sometime. The effort to go back to XP is better put into getting your games working on vista.
