What is your opinion on teen pregnacy? I know a girl in my school (8 grade 14 years old) and she is already pregnat. She is always with her boyfriend, but I am guessing he will dump her later on.

What really bothers me about this is that shes 14 and still in the 8th grade.
I think we should be able to have children as soon as the body permits it. Most girls are physically ready by like 14. I think we should just let nature take its coursemmogoon
Society's already plagued with enough teen mother unable to raise their children, thus resulting in them being screwed up when they grow up. There's a reason why you're supposed to wait until you're married to have children: to provide them with a stable home and give them the best upraising you can.

I totally agree. Perhaps i feel the age of consent should be lower, but i agree that children need a stable home
My friend's mom is only 35 and he's 20, I swear they look like they could be married. Its hilarious, me the rest of my friends give him crap, in jest of course. If fornothing else, don't do it for the sake of your child's self-esteem.

Are you kidding?
A person 13 years old having a baby? Someone that age has no concept of what having a child entails, does not have the maturity required, not to mention that they cannot even take care of themselves.
I sincerely hope you are joking.
Girls that have kids that young always go downhill and end up in the gutter. these kinds of people are the ones who abuse drugs and other bad stuff, they learned that lifestyle from their parents and they're passing it on their kids.
Just because someone's physically capable of creating life doesn't mean they should at the first opportunity. This is also why people say pre marital sex is bad, although it's possible to eliminate the risk of pregnancy if both partners are educated.

That's true, but marriage is the easiest (and most common) way of guranteeing a safe and stable upbringing for kids. Yes divorces happen occasionally but the majority of the time it works out.

Of course that's not the case, my generalization was not aimed at single mothers in general but at those that got pregnant when they're 14-16 or below the age when they're considered legal adults.

I said 14. Yes i do think they're too young to take care of the baby, but on the other hand why would girls physically develop to be able to bare(sp?) a child at that age if it weren't meant to happen. Basically yeah i do agree with you, but i'm just pointing out the nature of it all

Children cost money. A lot of expenses. Kids don't understand expense because they don't have them. I guess they think everything a child needs is free. Who's gonna pay for the child? Their parents? Aint gonna happen, because if it does the kid will never become responsible.
Don't have kids until you're legally an independent adult, because then your parents won't have to deal with it. Once they are no longer obligated to pay for yourstupidity you can do whatever want, because they won't have to deal with it.

Interesting story about someone who used to go to school with me.
Back in 5th grade, this one girl used to have a big crush on me, but nothing happened between us of anytihn. Then in sophemore year, she was in one of my classes, then I knowticed that her stomach was gettign big. Well, she was pregnant, and she wasn't even 16 yet.
The next year, I me and my girlfriend used to always go threw the McD's drive thru right before school to get some breakfast. And who did I see serving us breakfast thru the drive thru window one day? The girl who got pregant the year before. This was half hour before school, so obviously she is not going to school anymore, and working at McD's instaid. I felt bad for her, she used to really like me too, and 6 years later, I pull up the the window in a BMW, with a hot girl, and she is stuck at the McD's window having to serve me. She really did not seem too happy.
Lesson is, always use protection.....

Girls at 14 are still kids. That is my opinion. I mean, I was 14 in 8th grade, but my birthday is the last day of the year, so I was 14 for the rest of the school year. Anyway, having sex at 14, I don't really agree with that. Yes, their body has matured to where they are able to have children, but mentally, most are not mature enough to have sex at that age. Also, even though that girls have their first period before or at that age of 14, doesn't mean their body is exactly ready to bare the child. Their own body is still growing and maturing as well. Just because they have had their first period at the age or before 14, doesn't mean their body is done maturing. It's still maturing at that age.
I really think it's a bad idea to have sex at the age of 14, not only because of their body andmind, evenmentally, not being mature enough, but also because they do not have the money to raise the child themselves, or areresponsible enough. They don't usually have jobs at that age and they're not ready to take the responsibilities that a child offers them once they have it. Taking care of a child is grave responsibility and if you're not ready, you're not ready.
Yes, their body has matured to where they are able to have children, but mentally, most are not mature enough to have sex at that age.
ayanami_rei
As long as they're using contraception then there's not really a lot to sex is there? I mean it doesn't take a genius or high maturity to work out does it
If you want kids, make sure you have a money to raise teh kids and make sure you have a spouse to help you (or a relative or mother, ect).
If you don't want kids, wrap your willy :P

Where I live most kids start 8th grade when they're 13 and then turn 14 durring the school year. So this girl is on track or she might be a year behind.
To the person who asked why people become physically capable of having kids before they "should", here's why: Before civilization humans were like any other species and had one goal in life: to propagate themselves which is the goal of every species. Back in these times it was rare for anyone to live to their full life expectancy (or it was very low, bascially people didn't live very long) and so an early puberty allowed for the maximum timeframe durring which people could reproduce in their short lives. It didn't matter that the person might not be emotionally ready to have kids, as long as they had as many as possible in their lifetime. Also things were a lot simpler back then, there wasn't money. That's the simple explanation, sorry if it spunds kinda weird but that's just the way evolution works.

14 years old? Sheesh that's when indians had kids, and even then they babies survived but the mothers didn't cause their bodies hadn't matured enough to endure a pregnancy.

Working out and sex are not the same. If they have protection, it reduces the risk, but the protection is not 100%. You can still have a child if you use protection. Please Log In to post.
