I'm not even kidding, the original Star Wars movies look waaaay better than the recent ones. The lightsabers actually touch and have weight in the original, the new ones don't have any weight or sensible parrying. And the backrounds look fake. Just watch A New Hope, the space fight at the end looks better, and the Empire Strikes Back duel at the end has weight, and real parrying. Forget the new star wars

I think that the new Star Wars looks much better than the original. The originals were a heck of a lot better than the new ones, though.

The original trilogy is a lot better than the new trilogy. I just want to know which version of the original trilogy are you comparing to the new trilogy: Not remastered (original theatrical version) or remastered?

Its commen knowledge that George Lucas has a fetish for destroying franchises, his favourite trick is to put CGI animals in movies for no reason. He is a troubled man.

really? it looked like in every lightsaber fight, they were dancing instead of parrying in the new star wars movies. And the Empire Strikes Back snow speeder battle looked way more convincing than the General Grevious Chewbacca Battle

The newer ones look better, but the older ones are classics. Much beter than 1, 2, and 3. And I'm a mega Star Wars fan, own every single movie on DVD, and seen them all thousands of times. And anybody who says that "Attack of the Clones" or "Revenge of the Sith" is better than Episode 4, 5, or 6,is quite one of the dumbest people I would have ever met. The first 3 Star Wars movies will always be the best. My personal favorite has always been "Empire Strikes Back", Episode 5 :D

But I thought that Episode 1 was really good. My favorite movies in order would go like this:

  1. Empire Strikes Back
  2. A New Hope
  3. Return of the Jedi
  4. The Phantom Menace
  5. Revenge of the Sith
  6. Attack of the Clones

I like all Star Wars movies, but Attack of the Clones was not very good. That was my least favorite :(

Please! Did you even see Yoda in the originals? I could see the strings attached to his back.

The one thing the new Star Wars excelled at was visual effects. Ben Kenobi vs. Vader in A New Hope has nothing on the battles fought in Episodes I-III. It sounds like you're just trying to bring down the new Star Wars. Shouldn't we be searching for the good hidden beneath the fail that is Jar-Jar Binks? Anyways, Episode III was a brilliant movie. It even compares to the old ones, to be quite honest. If you think that the space battle over the Death Star "looks" better than the opening battle over Coruscant, you're highly mistaken.

Does Jar-Jar Binks have any point in the story, whatsoever? Does he ever do anything important besides take Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon to the underwater Gungan place?

lolwut? Greivous and Chewbacca never fought.... Anyways, seriously, the lightsaber battles fought in the new ones aren't dancing, they're simply much grander.

You can't even tell who is who in the *New* star wars space battles. In the original, you had the X-Wing, Y-Wing and Star Destroyers. WTF was going in Episode III, you couldn't see who was who, the ships were so random

I agree.

There is something about animatronics/puppets/etc that just remains awesome imo. When you saw yoda in the original, at least he was real. Sure, you'd be like "thats a puppet", but at least he was material. The Deathstar, as well, was not a cartoon...they took a bunch of model battleship parts, pasted them together, then ran a camera over it to give the appearance of a giant space station.

In the new ones, I saw him and thought "Man, Yoda is a cartoon". Same for all the other stuff. Computer animation is good when done to accent certain things, but when it becomes the focus and the bulk, its a bad thing.

This applies to all movies. Even robocop; when you saw the robots and stuff like that, it was real, even though it was a toy.

The camera was always on Anakin and/or Obi-Wan's starfighters, both being special Jedi models, the difference being red and yellow. In Episode IV, it was much smaller scale, which is a good thing, as a larger strike force would have been easily taken out, and only those X and Y wings could fit in exaughst trench. Episode 3 was an all out assault, something like Lord of the Rings. You weren't supposed to know every ship, just Obi-Wan and Anakin.

3 was boring, i'd actually rather watch 2 for it's laughable CG and rudeness to Jar Jar, lol, then 3. Anakin doesn't even say hi to Jar Jar in 2 lol.

My only problems with the new trilogy were the cheesy acting and Jar Jar Binks. Other than that, the battles and lightsaber duels were fun to watch.

III was exciting as hell! I was biting my finger nails so rapidly as Anakin and Obi-Wan fought it to the death, and I actually found myself tearing up over the great Jedi purge. I also remember a distinct feeling of shock and awe as the two flew over the Republic cruiser and this giant battle was underneath. Also, the CG was never laughable, ever. Seriously, did you watch the new ones on YouTube or something?

Puppets, models, etc. > CGI. I don't care if there's strings. They still look 5x better than crap CGI because of their tangibility. It's also fun trying to figure out how they pulled it off.

I'm not going by the looks because its common since the last three looked cleaner. I'm judging them by the stories which the last three lacked in especially episode 3.

You need to get the versions of the originals that have been edited by fans. They take out some of the dumb scenes (i.e. Jar-Jar Binks) They add in deleted scenes and scenes that were not put in. They shorten some scenes and change the transitions between scenes. Some even take out parts of the story lines that don't even need to be there. Those movies are almost how they should be.

When it comes to how the movies looked at the time of their release, the originals (especially A New Hope) were the most amazing (in terms of graphics and special effects). Overall, the newer movies have WAY better special effects... but the stories of the new movies aren't as good as the originals.

Star Wars Episode I has some of the best choreography for a sword battle scene ever and blows TESB out of the water in terms of skill and technique.

The only thing good about the new star wars trilogyis that the visual effects are much much better. But the old trilogy is just plain better.

hey gun65, i think me and you are the only ones to really pay attention to the story. thats why jar jar sucks. he gave the empire power. why does no one understand this. your supposed to hate him. and revenge of the sith is the best, story filled almost all the plot holes and the graphics rocked
