[QUOTE="gameguy6700"][QUOTE="Dark__Link"]As a MacBook Pro owner (for 3 years), yes. Be prepared for a flood of "NO," though. OT is not fond of Macs. Most of them have no idea what they're talking about, though, so you'll want to weed them out...Dark__Link
We know what we're talking about. I got my Gateway P7811FX two years ago for $1250 and I assure you it kicks every MacBook Pro's ass as far as hardware is concerned. You can get even better gaming laptops these days for $800-1100 as well. All you get with Apple is an overpriced, underpowered machine. Now maybe OP doesn't want a gaming notebook (although if he's willing to blow $1300 on a laptop he most certainly can get a nice one) which is fine. In that case he can pick up a more mainstream PC notebook for half the price of that MacBook and it will still run just as well, if not better (and as a plus he'll have a lot more software to choose from).
Have you ever used a Mac before?Yes, my university has a fetish for them so I've had to become pretty familiar with Macs. All using them for the past few years has done for me is make me hate them even more.
I really don't see any argument whatsoever for buying a MacBook. When it comes to computers all that really matters is the hardware. Even if you think the Mac OSX is just the end all, be all of OS's, OP can still just go out, buy the damn Mac OSX, and install it on a PC notebook. Then he gets the Mac OSX along with the hardware of a PC and for half the price it would have cost to buy some crappy MacBook. Granted that's like taking a liger on steroids and putting it in a cage so small that it can't move, but if for some reason he really wanted to do that then that's the way to go. The only thing that will be missing is the pretty shiny white case with the glowing apple logo that defines a MacBook, but I really don't think that's worth an extra $500.
