They're much worse today. TV is almost unbearable to watch because of them... that goes for the programming as well..

Yeah, commercials basically promote downloading to watch something without commercials. Seriously, 15 minutes of film and then 10 minutes of commercials. I sometimes forget what I was watching.

Commercials are just as annoying as they ever were. Perhaps now some of them are a little sexually overcharged.

What really grinds my gears though, isn't so much the actual commerciasl....but all of the "pop-ups" I'll call them. You know, you're in the middle of watching something, just at a dramatic point, and a character from some other show just pops up on the lower corner of the screen with a dumb look on their face. Gosh I can't stand that. Totally kills the mood.

There are WAY too many now. In a half hour show there are now 3-4 full commercial breaks.

When the heck did anyone have a positive view of commercials? Commercials suck. Then again, I don't watch TV, or go on the internet too much for anything besides the Assosciated Press, or RT or Aljazeera.

To watch a 40 minute TV show I'll probably have to sit through around 20 minutes of commercial unless I get up or flip the channel. I watch my tv and movies using better ways now though to avoid this.

This for sure, it happens a lot when they advertise the next show during the previous show. They can advertise the next show during the adverts, really annoying.

One thing that has improved in the UK atleast is the volume of adverts have reduced so you no longer **** your pants when watching a movie that is super dynamic sound and then the advert comes on and sounds like an explosion in the movie. with the rise of skyhd and dvr for americans, I just record and skip through the adverts now.

I actually like some commercials, if they aren't too poorly done. The ones on TV don't bother me much, what annoys me are those website and Youtube advertisements :x

I detest advertising in almost all of its forms, and commercials are the lowest of the low. IMO, commercials should be informative and nothing more, all this creating images that stick in people's head is just a ridiculous ploy and the sheer amount of money dumped into the advertising industry makes me sick.

Well, there are a lot of commercials because TV shows cost a crapload more to produce, then in the past (or in other countries for that matter). Remember "Friends"? Six cast members, raking in a million bucks a piece, each episode. Not trying to single out just the actors. Actual TV production has gone up insanely. They are like little movies each day.

I quite rarely see them since I don't watch TV and have Adblock plus installed. On the occasion that I do hear/see an advertisement, I kill it faster than my alarm clock. I can't f***ing stand them.

Problem I've noticed recently is TV stations are jamming in more and more commercials on re-run TV shows. The original runtime for Seinfeld was 21 mins of show and 9 mins of commercials. Now in re-runs, my local station plays 19 mins of the show and 11 minutes of commercials. They have to cut out 2 minutes of the show now. One Seinfeld episode, everything lead up to the last 30 seconds of the show, and it was CUT for commercials!! How about going back to the old days when TV shows were sponsered by companies, and put that companies logo at the bottom right corner of the screen. The bottom right corner nowdays always have TV stations logo. Replace the NBC logo with AT & T for example. It's gotten so bad with commercials I set up my PC with 2 TV tuner cards and Windows Media Center. For the past 4 years, I stream recorded TV to my Xbox360 and just skip the commercials. This works awesum, and in 4 years it has never failed once. I understand we need commercials to fund production of TV shows, but they have gone way overboard.

I took my cable box out so I have no TV. Haven't seen any in forever, but I remember them being absolutely deplorable. I can only assume they have gotten worse.

I don't really have an opinion about commercials anymore, as i haven't had cable for 2 years, and NoScript/AdBlockPlus stop most advertising and commercials on the internet. From what I remember I've always found commercials to be about equally terrible though.

I don't understand commercials. There's waaaaay too many of them and none of them ever make me want to buy their product. No idea how they get it to work on people.
