@konvikt_17: Def Leppard ain't half as big as these bands. In my opinion of course. No offence intended.
Even though I think Pink Floyd is the most talented on that list, I have to pick Led Zeppelin because that's the music I cut my teeth on.
BTW, where are: RUSH, The WHO, Lynyrd Skynrd, U2, REM, The Eagles, AEROSMITH, Van Halen, Bruce Springsteen & the E-Street Band?.?..?..?
And why is Elvis Presley considered a band?
Led Zepp for sure... greatest band of all time... sure the beatles have the record sales and so many albums but they get boring after awhile. No one accomplished what Led has in the amount of time they were together IMO.
On a side your list is a bit rambled. Metallica and GnR and Elvis in with some of the most recognized classic rock bands. Doesn't really fit. You can't leave out the Who and Jimi Hendrix

Metallica is a hugely massive and influential band. They absolutely belong on the list.
GnR and Elvis though... GnR had like 4 albums before their egos imploded and Elvis was a solo act. He was HUGE, but not a band.

No disputing that about Metallica or GnR but I always think about metal with metallica making them a little odd for the list. Not that the list was specified or anything but just by judging the other choices. Judging by your picks I think you would have made a better list. How about Fleetwood Mac, Tom Petty, Bob Seger, Journey, CCR, Heart ,and Bad COmpany as well. So many classic rock staples that's is why it will always be the best genre IMO.
Honorable mention apart from Led being the best is Pink Floyd and Sabbath. All 3 for being very different and influencing so many artists succeeding them.
You asked for biggest, not best. That would be The Beatles. I don't see why people are answering with anything else.
By 'what's your pick' I take it you mean what's your favourite?, if so then off that list I like The Doors but I choose Metallica.
The early albums are classics and still sound better than the majority of rock albums released from then to now.
@Netherscourge: Your right.I left out some big name bands,Queen being another one.I guess I should have made the poll bigger. As for Elvis Presley,I know he was a solo act,but he was still rock'n'roll and there was not many musical acts any bigger.
I moved on from my classic-rock-is-the-best-thing-ever phase shortly after high school. I'm into classical, the blues and extreme metal now.
Pink Floyd is an easy choice for me, although I greatly enjoy listening to most of them over the years with the exception of Led Zeppelin and Presley.

Out, out, out, just...out.

Led Zeppelin is #1 for me, there is no rock song better than Stairway To Heaven from How the West Was Won, I used to listen to them all throughout junior high and high school (still do of course) but now I have broadened my likes to such different genres, second place The Beatles followed by Pink Floyd.
No Queen? Get it together, man.
Queen is okay, but it's not Led Zeppelin or Pink Floyd

Definitely Black Sabbath/Ozzy Osbourne, but many on that list are great choices as well. Since you have Zeppelin and Sabbath on there you could also include Deep Purple, since it was those 3 that had a very heavy influence on Metal in the late 60's/70's.
Classic Rock/Metal and Rock n Roll will still always be one of the biggest genres of all time. So many Legendary Bands came out during that period and are still remembered 40 years later, not many can say that and I can't foresee many of the bands today lasting that long and being this iconic. Went to see Black Sabbath this past fall and that Stadium was packed to the maximum, I could not spot any empty seats, I also felt slightly claustrophobic being sandwiched between so many people. And it was filled with people of all ages from young to old.
It has been my favorite genre since I was 15. 11 years later and that hasn't changed at all and I don't see it changing anytime soon.
