After Newtown, the PTC is upset that the show "Sons of Anarchy" depicted a school shooting in which a Catholic boy walks in a classroom with a semi-automatic assault rifle and shoots his classmates, while the screams of children echo. Here is the link: http://w2.parentstv.org/main/Action/ActionAlerts/aa_2013_09_12.aspx. What are your thoughts?

I don't get why people would be upset with it, it's not done as a celebration of mass shootings. Anyhow, I don't really watch the show, had a roommate that did so i know a little bit, but from what I remember the bike club ran guns, so maybe this has something to do with that, like maybe a consequence of some action. Mass shootings happen enough there's never a safe time to show one in a film without ruffling any feathers.

Why are they getting upset over a show that's not meant for children?

Kids getting shot at school shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone anymore.

this is clearly evidence that Obama and his Hollywood elite liberal media are attempting to get guns banned by depicting gun violence in the negative, people would realize this if they looked at the facts

It should still. Any school shooting is still shocking because innocent lives get taken for absolutely no reason.

Has there ever been a parent council that wasn't overwhelimingly ignorant?

It's a show rated M targed toward adults. Why do they complain?

One its just a show. And none of the school shooting deaths were shown on screen. No big deal.

This really doesn't appear to be much different than parents blaming violent video games for lame reasons.

Sons of Anarchy is a television show.  It thrives on ratings.  Depicting something for the sole reason of eliciting a response from people, positive or negative, will drive up it's ratings.  Gun ownership and school shootings are a hot topic right now in the US.  SOA will benefit from the publicity and garner higher ratings, even if it is shocking for some people to watch.

School shootings happen, no need to hide from that fact in an adult-themed television drama.

Parents TV Council, or Parents 'Anything' Council, most often = delusion

It's a fiction. It doesn't celebrate the reality of school shootings but depicts the tragedy of them. Pretending school shootings don't happen doesn't help anyone. And depicting something in fiction doesn't turn it into a reality.
