My brother just got his permit and he was practicing driving, but my mom, being a dumb butt, let's him drive WITHOUT HER IN IT - and not only that, he's a stoner. So as you can tell that's a recipe for disaster and guess what? Across the street from my house (my brother's friend lives like a few houses from me) he crashed into a house - totaled the car and fugged everything up. I've seen this happen with most dumb kids who drive before their permit/license, and their parents let them, and 100% - no exceptions - they get in wrecks.

Seriously I hope my mom does serious jail time for this stupidity, as well as my dumbbrother. Marijuana messes up the brain, people! Argh!

Well I noticed that with the people I know that got in wrecks (like a few of my friends) they had one thing in common - drugs. I think if you just stay away from them you should be OK.

I drove the car when I was 14, but I was on a farm and my dad was in the passenger seat.

Because she was stupid enough to let my brother - who is clearly high - drive without a license (who has only driven like 5 times before and in just a straight road).

So? I'd think your main concern would be if your brother is okay. But next time there is a weed thread and someone mentions no accidents occur....you can relate the anecdote.:P

I don't care about my brother (well I do) - it was his fault he was driving inexperience while high. I guess it's just I am a tough as nails person who believes in strict discipline for stuff that puts other people in danger. Thank goodness I'm not a dictator eh?

I'm not here to dicuss the effects of marijuana on driving but I'm absolutely positive that it doesn't make people crash into houses. :|

You're brother must have been on harder **** or an extremely terrible driver.

I don't have a problem with it if a responsible adult is in the car (i.e. letting a child steer on a road that doesn't get much traffic), but i agree with you in your case.

There's a relation between your mom letting your brother get away with things like driving without a liscense and his smoking dope.

Probably both. I'm not sure if he has marijuana on him but he's clearly high (you can smell it a mile away) - will he get jail time?

Neither does alcohol, right?

The dope probably made him think it would be cool to do something stupid, and he did it.

I have a permit and can drive perfectly fine. My parents don't let me drive by myself, but I always am sneaking out. Yes, it's illegal, and if I wreck I'm toast, but oh well. P.S. what does him being a stoner have to do with this? people who smoke can't drive apparently?.....

And alcohol does? Both drugs impair brain and motor function. Marijuana is a hallucinogenic that screws up your perception of space and time. It's just as dangerous to drive high on marijuana as it is on alcohol.

No, it's not anywhere close to being as dangerous as driving while drunk. I don't know if it's that dangerous at all. I don't really recommend it, but if you aren't new on the road and you're familiar with the feeling of being high it's pretty damn easy.

As always, much depends on other variables such as how much you've had to drink and how much you've had to smoke. Someone that's driving baked is easily as bad as someone that's driving drunk.

It's dangerous to operate a motor vehicle while in an impaired state. Marijuana impairs the brain. I'd hope you don't argue that.:?

Oh well, if their kid end ups killing someone and/or themselves, I hope they can live with that. But then again, there are plenty of people with licenses who don't know how to drive either.

Parents letting their kids drive when they're young, most interesting - "He's a good driver, he learned how to drive from the TV!" *Sound of a car flying past followed by screams and thuds* "Good one son!"

What an 'smart' culture we are. Really. And they blame the car afterwards because the car was likely really naughty after being taken over by the devil or some madman with a thing for sticking pinecones down his thousers.

Drive around the block slowly with your kid in the car and I see no problem letting your kid drive a year before he/she gets their license. If you are not present it is a big no no.

*sigh* It's illegal you know....and a danger to others. One wants to get high....that's on the individual. They shouldn't make it someone else's problem.

I don't drive high.

Did I say you did? Though your last comment was not comforting.

[QUOTE="WhiteSnake5000"] I'm sure it does. WhiteSnake5000

Then it's not good to encourage driving under the influence is it?

I don't encourage it for other people, but I'll do what I'm comfortable with for myself thank you very much.

As long as it doesn't hurt other people, then waste your brain. I mean if you want to smoke marijuana (not saying you do) then that's your free will but don't be in a situation where you can harm other things or people (like drive).

It's not a big deal if the pre-licensed driver has a job and has no one to give him/her a ride to work. I have friends like that who pretty much HAVE to drive or they can't work.
