Pc to Tv

I really want to play snes games from my computer and see them on the tv. I am using a laptop and only have a monitor output. I have recently bought one of these cables hoping it would convert the monitor output into a s-video but had no luck. If anyone knows how to display your pc on your tv using only the monitor output could you please share it with me. I do own these games but my super nintendo is in anouther room. I want to play these games in my bedroom and i dont want to unplug the nintendo every time. If anyone has any information on how i can get it to show on the tv then please help.
