I liked Pearl Jam a lot back in the day of grunge. In fact, they were my favorite. Still love their song Black. However, I wasn't impressed with their new music at all.

their new stuff is still at least better than modern post-grunge stuff like seether and crossfade.

No, the greatest band in history were the Backstreet Boys. Let's admit it now, don't be shy.

Eddie Vedder is amazing... i had the privledge to see them in concert about 2 years ago and they were just absolutly amazing... he got better the more he drank he was chugging out of a jug of wine the entire show and towards the end he was stumbling drunk and better than when he was somewhat sober

I dunno, their new stuff is decent. Personally, I love their live album from last year quite a bit, though it does consist of a few older tracks.

i like their song "Life Wasted" but i havent really listened to them. Not really my type of music so i wont make a judgement. "World Wide Suicide" makes me laugh though cause it sounds like gibberish.

Eddie Vedder has a great voice. Loved some of the songs off of Vitology etc. Do not by any means agree with their political views, but a very good band. One of the best ever? Hardly.

Definitely one of my top 5 bands. I was lucky enough to see them in concert with Tom Petty a few months ago and was blown away. Very cool band.

People just say they're bad to stand out, as with countless other bands that have been bashed to death.

Eddie Vedder hates Gerry Cherone, and that's all that matters. As for their music, I like their first few albums. The last few weren't that good.

Really? I always thought they stood out, and I actually think that's partly why they're one of the few 90s grunge bands that didn't self-destruct.

I mean, a lot of those bands were like, self-absorbed, addicted to drugs, and their overall "attitude" just sort of seemed to be one of self-loathing apathy. At least Pearl Jam was always sort of concerned about "bigger" things. They always seemed to have more of a sense that the world doesn't revolve around them, and there are more important things they could be addressing instead of how they're all screwed up.

Personally, everyone says that Ten was their best album, but I really don't like Ten that much. Maybe it's just the overall sound of it, I guess. I think it's just sounds too rough for my tastes.

Anyway, even though I agree that a lot of their newer albums haven't been as good overall as some of their earlier work, even their worst albums have a LOT of tracks that I absolutely love. I don't think I've loved one of their ALBUMS that I've loved since Yield, but on their newest album, there were about 8 TRACKS that I loved, and a couple of others that I sort of liked. Granted, that's still not as good as having EVERY song being awesome, but it's certainly not as if they've lost it.

They are ok but overrated. I think they actually became overrated as a backlash against Nirvana's immense popularity. For the record I would take Nirvana ANYDAY over Pearl Jam.....

They may be true for some people, but I think those are probably going to be mostly the same people who stopped listening to them once grunge died.

I mean, Pearl Jam is still going strong and they are hugely popular, and I highly doubt that their many fans are only obessing about them because of Nirvana. Hell, it's been almost 15 years since Cobain died (damn, I feel old). There's no way in hell that Pearl Jam rode on Nirvana's popularity for that long.
