A pedometer is for gauging the pedophilia-ness of a person. If the needle goes far to the right, back away slowly.Silver_Dragon17

do dee do.... :|
I just got a pedometer and i was trying to do some research and it seems they are for women. Obviously staying in shape should be for both sexes. My other question is does it does it matter like if i take a small step compared to more active walking, i don't want to cheat myself. I am 18 and im not sure how many i should be doing a day and if my age plays a factor, im about 190-200 (it changes every week) and im 6'2 i would like to loose my man boobs thanksRonMaverick804
at least 8000 steps a day

I don't really understand what you are asking. Would you mind rephrasing the questions please?
200 steps. Go out to a track- that's hardly a quarter mile, which isn't going to do anything for your man-boobs. Go take a jog and buy a kettlebell. Pedometers are for fat people who are trying to convince themselves that they don't need to exercise, because "Hey, I've already walked a quarter mile today. Suit me up with my spear and cape."-Makaveli-
Pedometers are useful. I use one and I wouldn't consider myself to be fat.

It's not a definite. But, that's the overall trend. But, let me ask, is that your only source of exercise or is it part of a larger program?[QUOTE="PancakesNBacon"][QUOTE="-Makaveli-"]200 steps. Ah, running. Fine then. The topic creator is referring to what most pedometer toters use them for- walking.i dont eat pizzas every week, i am just a regualr 18 year old so year all i really do is walk around all day. I have one so i can atleast know how much im walking around.
Lets say i walk a mile as a total for the day. Would that be as affective as running a mile all at once? To me this is like lifting weights, stopping, coming back 30 mins, do another rep, stopping and repeating. I find it hard to think walking 1 mile as a total does anything when it took you all day to do it.
Also when you wear a pedometer do you have to multiply it times two (two legs..) or what?
If your issue is boredom during a workout, I thoroughly recommend a kettlebell. I'm well on my way to maxing the army APFT, and a 10 minute workout will do you better than two hours at the gym.i dont eat pizzas every week, i am just a regualr 18 year old so year all i really do is walk around all day. I have a membership to a local gym, and I have actually thought about getting rid of it in order to save some money. I have heard a little bit about kettlebells, but have never actually seen on or seen anyone do exercises with them. Where did you get yours and how did you learn to use it?

I bought mine on ebay (I'm about to get a new one from dragondoor, who has the highest quality). I learned how to use it by reading pavel's book, Enter The Kettlebell, which only has about 5 exercises, but is very heavy on the technical aspect, which is a neccessity if you don't want to hurt yourself. I found the rest of my exercises here. Honestly, a kettlebell is one of the best fitness investments you can make. And a flat hundred bucks can save you a couple years of gym payements with higher payoffs. I use a 53 pounder, but the average male should start out with a 35.Edit: If you want to see some kettlebell exercises in action, check youtube. There's several thousand videos up.
