People actually think avril lavigne is punk

sad thing is I kinda liked her when she first came out, not her really just that one song that made her famous. I didnt really like it much, but I could tolerate it.

Sex Pistols arguably started the genre. Go look it up on youtube. "Anarchy In The UK" is a classic, so is "God Save The Queen"

honestlly I really dont know how the bands I like are more punk, I guess its that they are less outspoken. Punk bands these days like to think that people care about their opinions outside their music, like green days lead singer talking against the U.S government in interviews even though what he says is what we already know and I doubt he knows what he is talking about. Those kinda bands are almost too streamlined, Punk to me is just a bunch of people playing music together, whether it be smart or political, and not making a big deal about it.

Personally I find her really hot, mostly because I like that "rockish" style of hers.

Punk rock sold out en mass in the 90s, had all of its social conscious and its venom sucked out, then spat back in the form of blink 182. Some of the few actual punk bands to survive are the exploited and rancid. It is ironic that what so many called punk's renaissance was actually its death.

I'd argue that punk isoften deliberately ugly. It's not supposed to be a catchy pop song you put on in the background, its raw anger that makes one want to smash stuff.
