No, it doesn't sound fun to me at all. One of my professors last year actually held the Guinness world record for most digits of Pi memorized for some time, then some other dude broke it. He still could go through some of them, but he said it was nowhere near as many as the 20,000 or something he knew before.

OMFG! I always wondered why I memorized to that point! Actually, the real reason is if I only went to the second 1, I would be uncertain about rounding, and if I only went to the 5 I would HAVE to round up :( So, the 9.
