Piccolo from Dragonball movie finally revealed.

My reaction? Meh. Back when I was a crazy fanboy obsessed with Dragonball/DBZ, Piccolo was always my favorite character and the old fan in me is very disappointed that they decided to make such a needless change to the character as making him a pasty, yellow Nosferatu rip-off. To be fair, this is supposed to be Piccolo's father Piccolo Daimao, but still...

...not green. If you are/were a fan of the franchise, what do you think of this change? Is it acceptable? Or do you too find it hard to believe they could take such a simple concept as "evil green alien man" and screw it up?

The movie was bound to suck regardless.

It is completely unacceptable with what they did to Piccolo. The DB/DBZ/DBGT universe has a certain feel to it and the way Namekian's look is a part of that. It wouldn't have been more expensive or difficult for the studio to make him the way he was supposed to be. They are completely tearing the Dragonball universe apart and after this film is released, no one will ever attempt to make a faithful live-action Dragonball film because of this movie that has done it so horribly.ElectronicMagic

That is your opinion and you are entitled to it. I don't worship anything. I just have fond memories of watching this show when I was younger, if they are making a film on it, I think it should stick to the source material. I think that about everything. I think that if they make a movie based on a book, TV series, anime, comic book, anime, ect, they should always stay true to the source material. Otherwise it is it in name alone and completely terrible to fans of whatever is being made.

Reminds me what they did to bowser in the super mario bros movie, and look how far that got. This movie will bomb.123625

Same here. At the very least, Marsters' performance is bound to be alright. With his facial structure and experience as an antisocial sarcastic anti-hero (a good one, in my opinion), at least his acting will be somewhat good. And maybe he learned how to fight, because if he didn't, I'm going to be pissed when the film's fight scenes look like some poorly-choreographed crap from Buffy. But, maybe the fights will be okay.

I can't find the images section on that site :cry: I was hoping to see some more shots as well. Apparently I'm forbidden from the /images/ area of the site. Where'd you get them from?

btw, he doesn't look bad. It's actually very well done makeup. This movie, like all live-action adaptations, should be a re-imagining of Dragonball. That's the idea. You're destining yourselves to disappointment if you don't open up.

Have faith with masters not the makeup. He is very pumped for the role and knows about the series. So try and look past the makeup.

I'm not really questioning his acting skills, for me its more: If they cant get Piccolo's skin color right, then what else will they screw up?

Either way, I'm still seeing the movie though.
